I would like to know, who was the most successful British & Foreign Acts in the rock era before the Beatles? Seven foreign acts - one Italian (Domenico Modugno), one Canadian (Paul Anka), one German (Bert Kaempfert), two British (Acker Bilk, The Tornadoes), one Japanese (Kyu Sakamoto) and one Belgian (Singing Nun) - had all hit the #1 spot on the Hot 100 before the Beatles. The most successful of these was Paul Anka.
