Hit History...Country #1's -- New 2nd Place!

Yep, nothin' like those new chart records, and this ain't one of em, but it's close. George Strait is now all alone in 2nd place in the category of 'Most Bb Country #1 Hits'. He was tied with Merle Haggard with 38, but George's latest topper 'I Hate Everything' sneaks him ahead with 39. (I know his new album title says 50, Alabama exaggerated on their 'best of' album title too) Just one more puts him in a first place tie with good ol Conway Twitty's 40 Country #1's. Another thing about George's 39, they're all solo hits, whereas both Conway and Merle hit the top with several duets.

And two years later, it's now George in First! With 'Give It Away' just hitting #1 Country Mr. Strait now has 41 Bb #1 Country hits. Sorry about that Conway but you've been dropped to second place. Quite a momentus, once in a lifetime chart feat, kudos to George! Now will any of the Country countdown shows recognize it, sadly probably not.
