Just curious how Casey handled "debuts" during the first few weeks after AT20 became AT10, given that any songs entering the top 10 during those weeks would have already been played before the switch.

Honestly thinking back I don't think he mentioned debuts at the start of the show during the AT10 entire run. I think he'd just say "entering the Top 10 this week..." or something like that when he got to the song (usually if there was one it was #10).

Even though the first AT10 show was March 20, 2004, the first debut didn't come along until April 17. Casey mentioned at the top of the show that there was a debut by Martina McBride and called it a debut again when introducing it at #10. It first hit the Top 20 on Feb. 21.
The next debut was "Love's Divine" on May 15, which is what Casey called it at #10. Casey first called it a debut when it hit the Top 20 on Feb. 14.

With the pace of the AC and Hot AC charts back at the beginning of this decade, it's a wonder those shows made it. It was the power of the brand (and the recurrents!)

And that Premiere owned the show and their parent company owned hundreds of stations. As an example of how low the priority of the show was, American Top 10 aired Saturday night at 6 on Magic 107.7 in Orlando. The very last episode...the final time Casey Kasem was on the radio...they preempted the show for a live fireworks on Lake Eola broadcast.
I get it was July 4. But move the show and announce when and that its his last broadcast. Make some sort of a deal about it.

Rarely radio stations that carried AT40/AT20/AT10 would prempt the show partially to carry weather bulletins if severe weather hits an area.
