Admittedly many of the songs AT40 plays would be a PPM tune out factor. But the show does have enough draw where appointment tune in is still a thing for it. There are no fan sites or message boards for any of the other shows. And I'm always the pessimist around here, and even I strongly believe in the draw of these old shows. I wouldn't schedule them in the middle of the afternoon, but they are perfect for weekend mornings or evenings. AT40 is still on some Cumulus stations I believe. WGRR in Cincinnati is Cumulus and both shows still air there. But I do see the big radio groups gravitating more toward a model where they only air their own stuff. WLS 94.7 FM Chicago is owned by Cumulus and once carried AT40: The 70's 2011-2013 and 2016-2018 and AT40: The 80's in 2018-2019. It doesn't carry the AT40 70's/80's shows anymore as of January 2019, but the station still carries Backtrax USA.

Which makes sense because Backtrax USA is under the Cumulus umbrella these days. That show used to be a staple on all of the then Clear Channel stations with a focus on 80s music. Now it's a staple on Cumulus AC or Classic Hits stations.

I almost posted nearly what you say above as a reply over on Radio Discussions. But then I thought, 'why bother'. The 'too hip for the room' snarkiness of some of the so-called radio professionals over there gets tiresome. I post very rarely on that site (as 99KTKT).

If what they said about KOOL and entercom is true WTIC, WOCL, and WTVR are probably gonna pull the plug on him sometime soon. I sent a Facebook message to Entercom owned WOCL (Sunny 105.9 FM Orlando), and they replied to me that station has still played AT40: The 80's on Saturday mornings as of yesterday morning (December 5, 2020). And as of December 12, 2020 as I checked 105.9 Sunny FM Orlando AT40: The 80's is airing on the station still - 12/13/1986 show.

It looks like WVBG - V105.5 - Vicksburg, MS has dropped the 80's show. It's the second sunday without it. Could someone confirm this? Thanks. Apparently, WVBG-FM has dropped American Top 40: The '80s.
The station is currently airing Tom Kent's Classic Hits Countdown.
