"Handclap" by Fitz and the Tantrums marks, I believe, their third top 20 HAC hit. However, they have never hit the regular AT 40 chart.
Are there other acts that have had at least three top 20 HAC hits that have never hit the CHR top 40? In a time where the two charts have almost the same songs, it is interesting that Fitz cannot hit the CHR top 40. Even more interesting: Those three HAC songs that FATT has hit with on HAC AT 40: all went top 10 on Billboard's alternative chart, with two of them hitting number one. For alternative top tens to hit the HAC but not the CHR is interesting chart stuff!

Going by Mediabase here so some may have not hit the recurrent rule-less AT40 chart:
Josh Kelley had 4 Hot AC top 40 hits, two of which were top 10 - no top 40 pop hits.
Parachute had 5 Hot AC top 40 hits, but none made pop.
Ryan Star had 3 Hot AC top 40 hits, but none made pop.
A close call: Jack Johnson has had several Hot AC hits, but did scrape the bottom of the pop top 40 featured on the Black Eyed Peas' "Gone Going". Another close call is Florence & the Machine, who has made Hot AC several times but Florence Welch only made pop as a soloist featured on Calvin Harris's "Sweet Nothing".
Ingrid Michaelson would've been a good one, but she did make pop with "Girls Chase Boys".

Great job on these! Of these artists, Flo would be the closest to Fitz in regards to being quite successful on the alternative chart as well as the HAC. That really is funny that there are two groups from this decade that have been big time on the HAC and alternative charts, but never crossing over to Top 40.
Flo did hit the Top 40 once on the Hot 100, something that Fitz has not been able to do. I don't think they've come close, actually.

An update...it will be interesting to see on the 1/7/17 chart if this point becomes moot as Fitz is creeping close to possibly hitting the CHR AT 40. Also, the first Icelandic act to hit the 40 might happen as well in Kaleo. Would be neat if both happened next week.
