Agreed. Although I've had no use for AT40 since Ryan took over, that's more a reflection on the state of CHR/Pop radio than it is of Ryan's performance. I realize things have to change, for better or worse, and I've gone down the dial to the more adult stations on the air. I'm glad Casey is still there with me. All the best to Ryan, he's got the franchise now and he seems to be doing well with it. It's all about Casey for me, though. Always has been.
Having said all that, I don't know why Ryan wasted his time hooking up with a crap operation like the E! Channel. Never seen so many documentaries done on the cheap in my life. At least VH-1 and some others actually pay the fee to include film and tv clips pertinent to the subject being covered. What do you get on E! ? Still photos, 9 out of 10 times. Ends up looking like the National Enquirer comes to tv. I will give them points for booting Joan Rivers and her devilspawn over to the TV Guide Channel, though.
And I'm all for passionate debate here, but can't we all take a step back and just try to get along? Sorry, didn't mean to go all Rodney King on everybody.

I know that most of us that post here grew up listening to Casey, but Seacrest may in time be the person that kids today can say that they listened to when they were growing up. It just depends on how long he is around.

and if Seacrest does go, I can see the show being hosted by revolving music stars as opposed to a regular weekly host. Outside of Ryan, I dont know who transcends the industry enough to host a show like that for a younger generation.

I find myself nodding along with every post by radioman, except when he said I should not be outing Pete. My reaction to the headline of this thread was more in the direction of a Michael Jackson song. I look for the current AT40 to inform me about the current musical acts within the Top 40. Is that this job being meant? It's debtable.
If you follow the past few weeks on AT40, one can already feel the impact of Seacrest's E! Channel gig. Has AT40 ever mentioned the Golden Globe's award show before this year?

It just depends on how long he is around. Yup ! That's the point Mark and exactly what I meant. Everybody is free listening to whatever. But as 95% of the boardmembers are not Seacrest aged listeners and 85% of all postings are in Casey sections and the classic AT40 section, I suggested to do something wich is related only to Casey.

We dont agree on much but you arent the first one I haven't. I actually like you, you are thought provoking in most of what you say....at least it makes me think up a defense. If you ever come for a visit to South Georgia, you're welcome to come over. We'll sit a spell ont he front porch and have fried squirrel and drink some shine with the rest of the locals. ;D In fact thats my open invitation to all the regulars on this board.

There are a lot of false rumors about Ryan Seacrest. However, he now has a reptutation that will be tough to shake. Just today on the radio, I heard that Kelly Clarkson broke up with her boyfriend & that she thinks that Ryan Seacrest is cute but not sure if he would go out with her. The DJs didn't say it but sure implied the reason he would not date Kelly.
I do think the younger male audience is turning on him. I go to middle schools and hear the Seacrest comments & it's not all positive. On the same end, this audience would rather listen to an Ipod than Pop radio & AT40.

Not to add crazyness to the pot, but didn't Ryan date Kerri Kasem before hosting AT40?

When I first saw this title, I thought Seacreat was OUT as host of AT40.....and dont say none of you thought the same thing when you saw the headline. Actually, I knew that it was in reference to his signature closing, since I listen to the ending of AT40 Hot AC every single week, since it comes on right before a HAC countdown show that I really like (VH1 Weekly Rewind). But I didn't notice that he hadn't been saying it for the past few weeks, for some reason.

I heard somewhere a while back that he didn't like it any more and was going to phase it out. I guess he has. We can only guess on this one. It could be he's trying to put out the fires on his image. "Seacrest Out" does lead to many jokes. His new closer highlights his TV gig with American Idol.

I will give them points for booting Joan Rivers and her devilspawn over to the TV Guide Channel, though. $21 million dollars over three years explains why he took this job. Besides that, Seacrest likes TV work. Seacrest was able to get comedian, Kathy Griffin, axed from her hosting gig on E! because Kathy has been "awful to him" in her stand-up act, so when Seacrest finalized this deal he made sure that Griffin got the boot. We now have the co-host of American Idol, Brian Dunkleman, Kasem, Dees, Clark & Griffin all in the Seacrest tidal wave. This new deal probably means another AT40 Fox-TV special will not happen anytime soon. However, with the extremely poor ratings for AT40 TV Special, Fox probably does not have any interest. Will AT40 ever pay him this much & just how loyal will he be to AT40 in years to come?
