That's because even you recognize he is doing them from Rio and want to hear these up to the minute big pop culture shows. FYI, personally I couldn't give a crap about the Olympics at all and haven't voluntarily watched even 30 seconds of them.
Where are you listening on Saturday? Doesn't it still come on Sunday in Orlando?

I never watched even just a split second of Olympics coverage ever in my entire life. As for today's AT40, while I may enjoy one or two songs max on a modern-day countdown, I no longer care for AT40 after Casey Kasem stepped down as host in 2004. But I made one exception, and that was on the June 21, 2014 show, but I only listened to it just for the Casey Kasem tributes scattered throughout the show.

My wife loves them so I see far more than I want. Before I was married, I never watched them for any reason.

I also never watch a minute of the Olympics unless it is on. I have nothing against them, I just have absolutely no interest in them and never have.
I have been listening to AT40 streaming on the station I grew up listening to it on, 96.5 Kiss FM in Cleveland, which has aired it in the same time slot now for nearly 15 years, Saturday 6a-10a. And the show sounds better than it has since Ryan took over. Ryan is so much more focused on the artists and music and intros and outros nearly everything. Even the old "the stars the gossip and the biggest songs in the USA" sweep is gone. There is more focus on the music than there has been in 12 years on the show, and it sounds absolutely fantastic.

XL 106.7 was working on 22+ years until they moved it to 7 I guess

Yeah, I don't understand the logic behind moving it from 8 to 7 after 2+ decades. It's not like they have a live jock they wanted to have start early. The night jock who is already VT'd M-F tracks the Sunday afternoon shift.

Correct me if I'm wrong on this. I've always thought that since the show is not as popular as it once was (by this I'm comparing now with the 70s-very early 90s) they will stick it in a time when losing the ad revenue they do because of the network spots isn't as great as later in the day when more people are apt to be listening. If the show were still a big destination, they'd be able to charge higher rates for the local ones in a later time. Again, I may be totally off on that. That said, 7-11 is earlier than 8-12 so maybe they make more now in that hour? Wouldn't surprise me if eventually it's on at 6 like it is most everywhere else in the state.

That is all true. Stations that air AT40 (current Ryan shows and classic Casey shows) are giving up five minutes an hour and assuming they don't oversell the show that can be significant. I just can't imagine the 11am hour on a Sunday is that "make or break"
When we aired AT20 and Backtrax 9-10 years ago, we never were able to get more for ads that ran during those shows. I honestly don't even know if stations try to upsell shows anymore, my guess would be no. Which is why running AT40 from 6a-10a is so desirable. It is easy to lose five minutes of the 6am hour on a Saturday or Sunday to national ads. Folks start to tune in around 9a - just in time for the last hour.

In some places I can't imagine 11 could be that big a deal. Orlando? I can. That d**n Disney Springs is packed by 11 whenever I've been over there. People are also starting to get out of church. Not to mention the other theme park traffic. I'm surprised New York and LA run the show from 8-12 Sunday's honestly. I know KIIS does Saturday too but that airing doesn't include the network commercials. You would think they'd do it the other way around.

Don't even get me started on Disney Springs and the traffic it causes if you need to use that stretch of I-4....
And yes - I am also surprised so many major markets like NYC and LA are still with 8a-Noon. But I am not complaining either - it helps give the show exposure.

The positives: I love the Disney Springs parking garages.....the end.

The garages are much better than the old parking lots. But the traffic in the area is still insane. And the heat right now is way too much to be walking around that place. I'll visit again around the holidays.

Also, XL ended AT40 at 11:28 this morning. Not sure if it ran four and a half hours with extra spots or started late. When I first discovered they had moved to the 7a-11a timeslot, I thought it was running early that first morning as it ended at 11:24 that day. XL is known for running late with AT40, but I think this is the first time I have ever noticed it was nearly a half hour.

Yeah, I'm liking "Cheap Thrills" and "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)" (new #1 on the Billboard Adult Top 40 Airplay chart).

Not just nowadays, but when has Sunday at 11am ever been "make or break" for a station? AT40 has been running in that hour on many stations whether the show has been popular or not since the 70s
