Where the numbered songs on the extra segments are concerned it's important to remember a couple of things here: First, the radio stations that air the show know how to count backwards and know what songs come after what other songs. If a station skips a #d song it's the station that should know better. This time of year stations don't have nearly as many local commercials to play so there should be more than enough time to play the extra segments, and if they don't it's not going to kill them to start the countdown a little earlier or end it a bit later. Second, ever since 1983, eight hours at 48 show minutes per hour has never been enough time to air all 100 songs properly, without edits. By putting #d songs on the extra segments adds roughly 30 minutes to the total run time of the show which should drastically cut the number of edited songs in the countdown by more than 75%. This remedies probably the only major problem with AT40's year-end countdown. In my opinion this is a plus!
