I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not the Hot AC version of Ryan's AT40 will conclude the year with a Top 100? Last year, if memory serves me correctly, it was just a one-week Top 50 over New Years week. However, I attributed that to the fact that the show was not even a single month old. Anyone know if they will be doing a Top 100 for Hot AC this year?

Don't know for this year, but I believe that LAST year it was actually a one-week top FORTY on the HAC show.

The idea of a Top 100 HAC may be a problem when they probably barely hit 100 songs on the chart for the whole year.

On the R&R Hot AC chart, 142 songs charted during the chart year. However, with AT40's lack of a recurrent rule, they may not have seen 100 songs like you said. Imagine trying to get a top 100 for AC!

Top 100 for AC. Either there would be songs from the last five years on it -- or -- no one would have ever heard of any of the songs after 50 or so (wasn't that often the problem when AT20 AC used to do a Top 60?)

And at #11 here on AT10s Top 100 of the year, here's the Police with "Every Breath You Take."

Well, it looks like it's only going to be a Top 40 of the year. On another message board, someone posted the chart for this weekend's show and it appears to be a weekly show. This is probably for the reason that there aren't enough songs that hit AT40 HAC to produce a full Top 100 list (and most of the songs in the lower half would be remembered by few people, and we all know how obscure songs on the radio are frowned upon anymore).
Oh well, at least the CHR show will be a full Top 100 (I hope so anyway).

I'll be waking up tomorrow morning at 5:55am for the first half of Ryan's Top 100 countdown. Even though I don't follow Ryan's show much, I still feel loyal to the American Top 40 Year-End Top 100, regardless of host, chart, or show format. Last year WAKS replayed the last weekly show in place of the first half of the Top 100 on Dec. 25...however it was later discovered none of the Premiere Programming had arrived due to a snow storm (AT20, Dees, and Backtrax didn't air right in the Cleveland, Akron, or Canton markets that whole weekend)
Anyway...WAKS is one of only two stations I listen to that hasn't already gone all-Christmas...so I see no reason why AT40 wont air tomorrow morning.

AT40 CHR does indeed have a Top 100 beginning this week. I had forgotten how darn early 6am was. It's been nearly 2 years since I had to get up that early for Casey...and I am spoiled by 9am start times for AT40. Sooo....at the last second when my alarm went off, I decided to play the "push record and wake up on the hour to flip the tape game". The little bit I heard while half asleep and the last half hour I have heard since I woke up sound good. It has a special intro with news clips, etc. from the year. At least thats what I think I heard at 6am There have also been lots of other news clips featured in the show. It's not Casey....but it's not bad, either. One thing i've noticed is that the optional extra segments at the end of each hour are numbered songs. Hmmmmmm. I wonder if Casey will do this on his year-ends.

I agree. What he did then was in the first segment of Hours 1-3 and the final Segment of Hour 4 (the segments following the optional segments) was casually mention the previous song without playing in Rick Dees fashion. WAKS does not play Hour 4's optional segment, so I did not hear song # 53, but in the final segment Ryan mentioned what it was before playing # 52.
I wonder if Hour 4 of Part 2 will work like this. If it does, many stations will not hear the # 3 song, which would definately NOT be a smart move. But I guess since they have to get through 50 songs in 4 hours instead of 40, there may be no other way to do it.
My guess is AT20 and AT10's year-end shows do not do this, because in the past even with 30 songs to get to in 3 hour shows, there has been room for several extras in the year-end shows.

You cant say getting through 50 songs in 4 hours this is the way you have to do it. AT40 and CT40 did that for years.

Oh, so "Almost" and "How To Deal" by Frankie J were the optional extras this week? So that explains why I only heard Ryan announce those songs without playing them. Apparently, KissFM doesn't play the optional extras. For awhile there, I thought that Seacrest was going Rick Dees on us (hey, it does sound feasible, since he stole Rick's Sleaze thing). Next thing we know, Ryan will be making up his own chart without a recurrent rule. Oh wait...

They sure were. I heard "Almost" and 2 others in Hours 1 & 2, but now How To Deal. The weird thing is when the station DOES play them...then Ryan starts a new segment and talks about them again.
