I assume you mean him calling the person a yutz is insulting, not the fact they had no idea about Shadoe. To which agree with you. Actually I have to be honest. Every day I become less of a fan precisely for the same reasons I am not a wresting fan anymore, college football fan anymore, and am becoming less and less a fan of sports in general. I like things. In fact, I really like some things. However the people absolutely obsessed with it ruin it for everyone else. It becomes you aren't a real fan, you don't know what you are talking about, you actually hate this, etc. It happened with the Teblowers over Tim Tebow. It happened with wrestling because I liked the quasi sport of it, not the gaga bs that it's become the last 20 years then being told I'm the problem. I've been called a fake conservative because I think Republicans should confirm Obamas Supreme Court nominee because regardless of how they've all acted in the past THATS THEIR JOB AND SOMEONE SHOULD BE THE BIGGER PARTY. And do I really need to go in depth about what has gone on here? In other words what am I saying? It is other people who ruin it for those who keep things in perspective. Being a fan is great. Being a fanboy sucks. Are you calling me a fanboy? I didn't specifically call anyone anything. I did say what fanboy behavior is. So, draw your own conclusions.

Oh. Opening up a can of worms. Took me long enough. For some odd reason I couldn't think anything but eating worms on Fear Factor when I saw it.

I would hardly call someone a "yutz" for not knowing that bit of information, in fact I'd call it insulting. Other than this core group of superfans, why would someone need or have that information? Someone working in Premiere affiliate relations is responsible for contracts between dozens of shows and likely hundreds of stations and would have no need to have a backstory on a show from nearly 30 years ago now. Well, I just assumed that since she worked at Premiere, and her network carries AT40..... she should know something about the history. But something has just come to mind..... this could sound absolutely insane.... but perhaps when Casey sold AT40 to AM/FM, he decided to whitewash the Stevens era in order to maintain a narrative. Everything I have read and heard about Casey is that he did not "whitewash" anyone. He and Shadoe were good friends (according to Shadoe yes but this was said during an interview soon after Casey passed, the least likely time for someone to make up things) and their children used to play together. So this is not the reason I guarantee it.

So this is not the reason I guarantee it. You are correct. But regardless of friendship he didn't whitewash anything because he truly didn't care enough to even think of doing such a thing. The show was something he created and gave his all to. It made him wealthy, helped make him famous, and gave him a lasting legacy. But once he sold it to ABC he still did his job but that was it! He was not obsessed with the show Iike some on here do.

All right, so Casey did not whitewash it. However, someone clearly has selective memory of Shadoe's AT40 run over at Premiere.
Coming back to who created CT40, Norm Pattiz took what was already being done on AT40 and transposed it over to Westwood One.

Coming back to who created CT40, Norm Pattiz took what was already being done on AT40 and transposed it over to Westwood One. No they do not have selective memory. Again, this speaks to the obsessed part I'm talking about. You have this idea everyone at Premiere (who got the show in 99/00 because it was under AM/FM in 98) knows everything about every show they carry and is clamoring to know more. They don't. You are talking about reruns of 40 and 30 year old radio programs. There are people I work with who had no idea who Casey Kasem was. I almost guarantee none of them have a clue Shadoe Stevens ever hosted American Top 40 even though several of them routinely listen to the radio and are older than me and thus lived through an era where local radio was commonplace for discussion the next day. That does not mean they have selective memory, it just means like 99.99999999999% of the world they didn't give it two thoughts when they heard him in the late 80s/90s and have forgotten or never realized he was hosting AT40 to begin with. And they d**n sure do not know the backstory. If I worked at Premiere do you think I'd have a clue as to the history of nearly any of them? No. I just looked them up. I have no idea what the history of Club Kane or the Big Show is. Nor do I want to! And it's not their job to know either. The people you called are there to help affiliates with their programming issues, needs, wants, or sign them up. They are not there to answer fan questions about why something isn't aired and then get a long history lesson about the show they didn't ask for, care about, or need. I promise you if I was not a fan of the show and you called and did that to me, I'd go out of my way to NEVER listen.

Just saying what obsessive behavior is... you draw your own conclusions... On a much more important note, hope everyone is enjoying their Friday... Enjoy the weekend AT40 shows...

You know I love posts like that. You know why? It allows me to do this.... at40fg.proboards.com/user/504/recentBelow is the list of posts I have done since 5/15. Please explain how I went on and on and on and on. I have answered something and responded to again to an ongoing discussion about the same thing. I'll also draw your attention to just a week or so ago some of us were having a rather nice discussion in the thread right underneath this one. Quite a shame you don't bother reading something like that before posting that. Oh sorry, I was just going on and on and on again...not naming names...just saying.

mission accomplished :-) ... Just messing with ya man... life is short... Hope your laughing/smiling while on these boards. Like everyone here, I'm a big fan of the show, and of course, we all have opinions on the best songs/shows/time periods/hosts/etc. It's impossible to tell what tone someone has when just reading what they've written... Hopefully you're enjoying your time here. We should celebrate our differences/opinions. This exchange is great for me. It's my 22nd post!!! One day I'll be a Junior Member!! :-) If I pushed a button, it was all in good fun... Hope this makes ya smile...

To quote Bryan Adams' #11 hit from 1992, "Do I Have to Say the Words?"
I'm a fanboy.

Back to something related to the initial topic, I've always found it ironic Norm Pattiz stated ABC had its collective head ups it's asses when it came to Casey not being re-signed in 1988. 10 years later.....

I think Norm was no longer in control of Westwood One by 1998. If he were, then he might have figuratively moved heaven and earth to keep Casey on board. Mel Karmazian was probably in control when Casey got away, not that it was necessarily his personal fault.
