Let's hope that they broadcast them at some point and not leave them stored away

why did they purchase them? To have something to spend money on or what?! That's what I want to know! Did they buy them just to stop the selling of the shows on ebay? If so, why don't they buy the rights to the ones before 1976, which are allowed?

If so, why don't they buy the rights to the ones before 1976, which are allowed? Yes it truly does sound weird ...... But they can never stop selling these programmes on E-BAY and anywhere else. There are to much of them around and what they recently practice doesn't work at all. With every auction they have cancelled, the seller received private contacts and sold the programmes for lot's of money. Lot's more than it might get on the regular auction. You know some people still think: "Oh I have to buy it right now without any hesitation, or I will never get it again" ....... wich we all know is definately nonsens ! They can never stop selling these (old) programmes. Sooner or later they will be up for sale again - here or there ! Oh by the way: Shouldn't we move this whole thing over to the WW1 section of this board ? I believe with this hot conversation in this section it is getting some flames wich it hasn't diserved.

It would certainly be to Premiere's advantage to broadcast those shows. They could make themselves some money while at the same time making Ebay sales less attractive. What good would locking them in a closet to gather dust do for them?
Maybe they could sell them to XM's 90s on 9 to broadcast like 70s on 7 and 80s on 8 are planning to do with Casey's AT40 shows from those decades. BTW: Bruce Kelley of 80s on 8 recently replied that the expected date that the shows would begin to be broadcast around Labor Day 2005. Only 2 months to wait!!!!

OK, maybe we'll find out who currently owns these shows from 1989 and the 90's. As long as I can't confirm about that, I look about this as pure speculation .... only ! My Prediction is: The WW1 shows are lost gold - we will never hear them again on any radiostation or payradio. But I would be happy to learn about my prediction become wrong

Okay, I'm still off on the tagent of Premiere's purchase of WW1 programs. It probably deserves a separate thread.
Why would Premiere just purchase Casey's show, when WW1 produced several other shows from that time period that would be of interest, like Dr. Demento, Scott Shannon & ect.?

well honestly, other than a few of us, who really remembers the Rockin America Top 30 Countdown, I mean don't get me wrong, I loved the show but few have any clue about it.
When the show died(at least I think when it died) here was the schedule it was in with on WAPE in Cowford.
Sunday: 6:30am-Powerline 7am-Future Hits 8am-Casey's Top 40
10pm-Adam Curry's Top 30 Hitlist 1am-HITLINE USA (God, remember this show?! It HAD to be a package deal with the Top 30 Hitlist, every station I ever heard with one had the other, can anyone verify that?) sometime after 2am-Scott Shannons Countdown show....here is why this was even worse, it was almost like paid programming or something, NO local spots aired at all. I almostr think they played it just to give some poor DJ a break in the AM hours.
For all the talk about how AT40 went out, THIS SHOW really went out with a whimper.

Hitline USA, with Shadoe P. Stevens. You must have been getting it on a tape delay basis, since it aired live at 11 PM EST in the country. I used to hear it on two stations in Iowa, and don't remember either of them running the Top 30 Hit List.
BTW, does anyone know when Hitline USA bit the dust?

Shadoe P. Stevens. His last name was changed to Steele to avoid confusion with the more well-known Shadoe Stevens, who started hosting AT40 about a year after Hitline USA started.
As for the show biting the dust, I have no idea. The last time I remember hearing it was in November, 1992, when Kenny Loggins was the guest. I only got through to the show once, but they never took my call. I waited on hold for the rest of the show while the hosts asked the featured guest, Michael McDonald questions and played music. That's when the show lost credibility with me. It seems that the "calls" were from affiliates of the show, just like "Open House Party" (everytime I called in to that, I just got a regular receptionist).

actually come to think of it, I tried to call in to the Scott Shannon Top 30 Countdown show and vote for my favorite song, and all I ever got 24 hours a day was a busy signal or no answer.
