I know when the new AT40 with Ryan first debuted one of the main features of the new show was that it would no longer be delivered to affiliates on CD, but rather via MP3 download...for many reasons, including "the latest up to date chart info"
From what I know, AT40 with Ryan is issued on CD just like other Premiere Programming. I know there was a time last year where my local affiliate was getting the MP3 downloads for Casey and Rick Dees, but they now get the show on CD again. Did the internet downloads not work out as planned? Is CD quicker? What happened here?

Some affiliates complained prior to the show debuting, so they were continued to be produced on CD.
Personally, I dont see the need for the CD's. I realize that was one of the many complaints originally filed on this board when Seacrest took over.....that there was no longer going to be a CD copy of the show, I took the position that as long as their are die hard fans, there will ALWAYS be CD copies of the show, it may be ones they recorded themselves but there would always be those.
Mp3's seem to be the logical way to go, it eliminates postage cost, defective cd's (scratches, no material on them, etc.), getting lost in the mail, and all the other issues that come from using that type of media. Obviously Mp3's are faster as they can be gotten immediately. I know that there may be times when computers at radio stations are down and the need for CD's is there on those occasions, then I believe in am emergency instance the affiliate shoul dbe able to call Premiere(or whomever) and get a rushed copy of the show on CD for that week. Otherwise, I believe CD's for the shows are a waste of time.
