For those of you keeping score on if Ryan speaks during the opening credits, well this week (Show #16-11) he did. The song at number 40 was not a new debut.

This must be the first time this year when he's done that. The only other time in the last couple of months that #40 wasn't "cold opened" was when Charlie Puth guest hosted. Meanwhile, we have a new feature for a while, "Tell Me Something Good" (they should intro it with Rufus and Chaka Khan) , with Ryan playing and responding to various clips of calls from listeners. Not something that I'd have included if I were in charge of the countdown, but no worse than listening to a letter from a listener telling of something bad in their lives (you all know what past countdown feature I'm alluding to.)

And another segment copied and pasted from his "On Air" morning show rather than recording original AT40 content.

Ryan opens the show before #40 this week, and does an outro and then intros #39!

I could be dreaming (or maybe it's just wishful thinking) but the past two weekends, AT40 (the CHR version anyway...I don't regularly listen to the HAC version) has seemed MUCH more talk-intensive. On last week's show (March 12-13), Ryan intro'd and outro'd the first SIX songs. This week had a lot more song intros as well, including on the optional extras. I don't know if this is intentional or not, but I sure hope so. The show sounds better than it has in a long time.

I have received confirmation that tweaks along the lines of what I describe above HAVE been made.
