In the long run, I'd have to go with ACC for 4 reasons:
1) It's the only show out there to run over 30 years straight, no interruptions. 2) It's used the same chart (Billboard's Country chart) for its entire run and is the only countdown show of any genre (to my knowledge) to use Billboard 3) It's year-end countdown gives all songs a complete chart run, either by projecting songs that peak late in a chart year or by counting weeks in the previous chart year for early-year peakers 4) The only host change was in the 70s (late 70s I believe). Bob Kingsley has been at the mic ever since and is still going strong.

Thats what I DONT like about the year end survey. if a song didn't finsh it's run in 1993, I dont like projections if the following year to determine whether it gets higher in this years chart or not. The weeks in next years show should count towards the next year. Bob is a great host, my favorite on the radio now.

Nice to see a fellow ACC fan around here, even if our year-end opinions differ a bit. I know a lot of people who would rather them count down Billboard's Top 50 of the year, and I can understand why. I just personally don't like how the strict cut-off dates can cause a big hit (2004 examples: Toby Keith's "I Love This Bar" or Lonestar's "Mr. Mom") to end up in a poor position. If I were to rank the choices (can't say about "20: The countdown Magazine" since I've never heard it), next up would be: 2) AT 20: The show focuses on the countdown and not past songs or celebrity gossip. Casey is a radio legend and really showcases a good variety of music on this show (even if "Just The Way You Are" is not part of it) 3) Weekly Top 40 CHR: Similar to ACC, this show has been going on for a long time, relatively unchanged. Rick knows what works, and he does it here. 4) AT 10: I don't like how there are so many extras, but Casey does a good job here as well. I like how they've gone back to using R&R instead of the customized Mediabase chart. *Tie for 4 4) Dick Clark's US Music Survey: I like how Mr. Clark focuses on the AC chart and not the other charts so much. I like Casey's style more, but I would rather see a Top 20 AC countdown than a Top 10. 6) AT 40: Not a big fan of the show, but Ryan gets the job done. I agree with others when they say that Ryan is suited for Pop radio. 7) Weekly Top 40 Hot AC: Perhaps my least favorite show out there. It seems to me like they use as much of the Pop show as they can, add a couple Hot AC-exclusive segments, and paste it all together. Perhaps it's their intent, but I just don't like it.

topay, I think counting previous year points is ok for songs on ACC, but I agree with Paul about the projections. The year-end chart is supposed to represent what has already happened on the chart, not what *might* happen in the future. I don't mind a song that is still in the top 10 at the end of the year being held over to the next year's year-end survey if they want to give them credit for their full chart run, just as ACC did this year with "Mr. Mom." It's better to do that then to "project" about possible chart positions that haven't happened yet. But that's about my only complaint about ACC, it's also my current favorite countdown show. I like that there's still a show that does an entire top 40 that I can actually stand the music on. It's exciting to listen and wonder what #1 will be, what former hits they will play by the current artists, the Calendar salute, there's a real sense of history with the show. I think they could make it even better if they brought back one of the old features like the playing of the #1 hits in alphabetical order, or if they did what they did for the 80's, and play the #1 hits of the 90's in order or something like that. But those are just suggestions, not complaints, I think ACC is great the way it is. Though I agree with what Paul has told me in our conversations before, the theme music is not very "country-sounding" anymore. But other than that, it's top notch.

Yeah, I miss the fiddles and steel guitars.
My things is I look at the year end charts in a very black and white, cut and dried way. Start counting up with the first survey of the year, stop and tally up the numbers with your past survey of the year.
The songs you are referring to would then chart in both years because of the slow charts. Not that it is a reason for doing it this way, I just feel like the Year End chart should reflect what the previous year ONLY said.

Also, what Jeff said about the old ACC Archives feature was great. It sould be nice if they sould do just one dedication, 2 archive features, and ACC Calendar during the show.
When I was listening several years ago they did the ACC archives every hour except the 4th, and in the time I was listening it was an alphabetical listing of every number 1 over the previous 25 years. The ACC calendar was if I remember halfway through the 3rd hour.
