Now for this week's AT40 BOTTOM OF THE CHARTS involving guest hosts - And once again each has 2 - 2 for the 1970's and 2 for the 1980's! 8/7/1976 (Cartoon voice actor Sonny Melendez guest hosted for Casey Kasem that week): Falling to #100 from its peak at #60 is a song by Disco Tex and the Sex-O-Lettes (of "Get Dancin'" fame) called "Dancin' Kid": www.youtube.com/watch?v=nt7mPbVTgpM7/16/1977 (Bruce Phillip Miller, in his first of 2 AT40 guest host stints, guest hosted for Casey Kasem that week): At #100 is previously covered Frankie Miller with "The Doodle Song", so on to #99 and down from its peak at #61 is The Captain and Tennille with "Come In From The Rain": www.youtube.com/watch?v=ma44f7OG0TM9/12/1981 (Gary Owens, of "Laugh-In" and "Soundtrack of the Sixties" fame, guest hosted for Casey Kasem that week. Premiere played this episode in tribute to him in 2015 after Gary Owens passed away): At #100 is "Don't Let Him Go" by REO Speedwagon, so on to #99 and we find a song that fell from its peak at #90 called "Very Special" by Debra Laws (Which would later be covered in 1993 as a rap remake by Big Daddy Kane and even sneaked onto the R&R Top 40 used for Casey's Top 40 but Rick Dees, who also used the R&R chart as its source, would skip this rap song as he did with certain rap songs at the time! Too bad it never made Shadoe Stevens AT40 which used Billboard Top 40 Mainstream chart with less rap songs!): www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdGM9ZUSSHQ11/21/1981 (Dave Roberts guest hosted for Casey Kasem that week, though Dave Roberts wouldn't guest host AT40 one more time until 5 years later after this!): Falling to #100 from its peak at #47 called "One More Night" by Streek: www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0hO3Ebuliw

6/2/73: Debuting at the bottom, and peaking at #58, is soul singer Ernest Jackson and his cover of the Al Green song "Love And Happiness." www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEmr_pZXmrc6/7/80: Michael Jackson's top ten "Off The Wall" kicked things off, followed by Journey's "Any Way You Want It." Now, in a rare moment, a song that was previously featured as an extra in the last 80's show (4/26/80) is next. It's the B-52's "Rock Lobster" which fell from #92 after peaking at #56. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oh5J33KAaqw6/7/86: Falling from its peak of #94 is a 5-man band from Pittsburgh named B.E. Taylor Group with "Karen." www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOFkCHgjFfA

Like the original version, there is a male voice that backs her up. In Lopez' song, it was LL Cool J. They went to #1 with that on AT40 in 2003. It also sparked a lawsuit from Debra Laws claiming they should not have used her voice. Both versions of the song are great IMO.

^Now THAT is a great song by Peabo Bryson. Played it many times in my last semester at college on the college radio station. Hardly anyone here will agree but that's inconsequential.
