Well we are going to revisit a year-end show that aired in the past, well the last three hours that aired back on New Year's weekend two years ago, but here is the aircheck of the Top 100 of 1996 in full. There is a little bit of an audio technical issue near the end of this aircheck.

It was truly just a joke, guys. Now I get it, Brett. Sorry.

It was great, that WW1 gave us the closing credits for the 1-5-91 ACC rewind show. Hopefully, that can continue through this new year.

Well I think someone there did fulfill a new year's resolution at least for the moment to grant that wish. Hopefully they can also A. Pick up more stations including ones outside the US, and B. Expand to 4 hours and/or at least make #40-#31 plus the song recap and the rest of the hour optional.
This was also the week after the frozen week that Billboard used back then from 1976's year ender to 1991 where last week nothing moved however it counted the week. Was stopped in 1992.

the ACC calendar segment featured 'Rose garden', from Lynn Anderson WW1 had to have edited it, 'cause 1 of the verses was missing. It was short enough, as it was. Ran less than 3 minutes, per Joel Whitburn's Pop Annual.

It appears they played a couple more extras to compensate. I recall an early January 2000 show that had several more Christmas songs within the top 40. After Bob announced the song and position he simply played a song on its way up the chart but which had yet to reach the top 40. IIRC, “ Buy Me a Rose” by Kenny Rogers was one of those extras that week. Brian

Ran less than 3 minutes, per Joel Whitburn's Pop Annual. I wonder if the original show had the song in full or (as heard in the ACC Rewind this weekend) was edited in the original show. In any case, the song is sufficiently well known enough it would not make sense — even with time constraints — to trim the song, either 21 years ago or today. It appears the song was played to salute the songwriter, Joe South), as two clips from South-penned songs are played: Billy Joe Royal’s “Down In the Boondocks” and South’s own “Games People Play.” (Incidentally, one-time Raider guitarist Freddy Weller covered both songs for the country market, both in 1969.) This week they are going back to January 20, 2001 (which was inauguration that day), and a week after Billboard adjusted the charts from 75 to 60. Now the Hot Country Songs contains 50 while the airplay portion has the current 60.

This week they are heading back to January 27, 1996 where I think this is the last show to use the ACC Archive feature alphabetically (although they went to 80s and 90s by then).
Meanwhile the recent 1/10/98 show is now up for an aircheck that has the closing credits intact (plus the missing first hour).

I do wonder, if they had stuck with the #1 A-Z's from 1966-1990 throughout rather than switching it partway through to the 80s and 90s later on in 1994, it could have lasted a bit longer archive wise (at the end, there were 726 songs counted). Well one milestone ends and the next begins listener wise next week which is still done today for both countdown shows (ACC and CT40).

Speaking of #1 A-Z's from 1966-1990, this week's rewind show goes back to February 1, 1992 where it has that feature (and a new show as well).

Why does WW1 think they need to insert the ACC rewind jingles in the original broadcast? Doesn't make sense. Also, 'Show her' from Ronnie Milsap had the 2nd verse edited out. Original, or WW1? Somebody must know.

Somebody must know. I don’t remember this specific show (from 1992), but I do seem to recall original ACC’s from back in the day (December 1983/January-February-early March 1984) when the second verse was edited out from the original show. There MAY have been a mid-to-late 1980s show where “ Show Her” was an extra and the second verse was removed, again from the original show. Brian

I think when WW1 airs shows from mid-1990 to about mid-1992 and some shows after that, they don't want to have the My Kind of Country, My Kind of Music jingle left intact. But they do keep many other things intact however...
Well this week all jingles leading to commercial breaks are instrumental stingers by this time, from February 8, 1997. At this point this was around a full year then of taking listener requests, and the first February 1997 show WW1 has aired in the series.
