Darryl Heine has emailed me (and probably some of you that read and post on this board) every week about how "My Happy Ending" by Avril Lavigne is STILL not on AT40 despite the fact that next week it enters the R & R Top 10 on the Pop chart. My question is: HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? Not that it is such a great song, but you would think it would have been on AT40 a few weeks ago even though there are still about 8-10 recurrents still cluttering up that chart every week.

Since AT40 only uses data based on their affiliate stations now, plus as you say the recurrents dont fall off until they are no longer a Top 40 played song, that would be why. Now as far as why their affiliates are not playing it as much as their non affiliates seem to be is another story altogether.

Spoiler alert for those who haven't heard this week's show... Well, apparently AT40's affiliate stations must have suddenly decided to collectively shove Avril into mega rotation, as she goes from below #40 to #13 this week. Strange, since my AT40 station has had her in about the same heavy rotation for awhile already (and from what I've heard, several other stations are the same way). Not that I'm implying anything fishy was going on.

One problem is that Kelly Carkson did not tell us that it was a debut, nor any other songs if any.
Granted we should know on Monday at at40.com
I can understand why some of you your rather have radio jocks fill in. The Duff sisters did a better job than Kelly did. It just depends on who does it.
When it come to actors, singers, etc etc I think that is just a way to get the listeners to tune in when the main MC needs to take a vacation. Nice for Hallyle to mechion Debbie Gibbison since now technally her sister Hillary is now the youngest to fill in for the main host of AT40.
When Ed McMann fills in for Casey I at times tune out. I just wonder what Casey will take a break. He has not taken an break since AT20 AC became AT10.

One problem is that Kelly Carkson did not tell us that it was a debut, nor any other songs if any. I heard on another message board that the song was listed on the Mediabase chart that AT40 uses as two separate songs, "My Happy Ending" and "(So Much For) My Happy Ending". Now I can't verify that for sure, but it does sound feasible. This could have something to do with the fact that it wasn't mentioned. Wrong "wh"-word
