According to the AT40 website Hilary and older sister Haylie will fill in for Seacrest the weekend of Aug 14, 2004.
They are the first fillins in the Ryan Seacrest era of AT40. Now when Shadoe was host of the program backe in the late 1980's and early 90's pop muscians were the usally type of fill ins and this pratice was done on Rick Dees, and Country artists filled in for Jeff Foxworthy and I think Ben & Brian as well.
I do know that Daryl Hall and John Oates did a fill in before Casey Kasem left the orginal AT40 allthough it did not work.
Kasem (and Bob Kingsley) perfer to use radio people to fill in for him.
Does using celeberties and/or pop singers as fill is help a countdown show yes or no.

Does using celeberties and/or pop singers as fill is help a countdown show yes or no. Personally, I like the radio types better. I think they have a better idea of the flow of the show, etc. Most of the celebrity fill-ins, while certainly a fun novelty, have been sloppy at best. |

Then again Rick Dees has had cleberties actors and singers fill in for him. Same goes for Jeff Foxworthy. Connection with the audience I guess. People also like to hear their speaking voices and not just their singing ones. With only a few rare accations Casey Kasem did the speaking for them. |

The Duff's will do another week of American Top 40. Who is doing his morning show by the way???
Oh and when is Casey Kasem taking his break and is Ed McMann still his fill in guy?

Regarding your question on who's doing Ryan Seacrest morning shows here in LA KISS FM.
Ryan is still doing his morning show here. Well, sort of, as KISS FM, assembled/ or cut and paste - together - previously aired shows ,while he's still in vacation.

Actually, they just corrected it on the AT40.com website...Kelly Clarkson hosts for Ryan next weekend, 8/21-22. The big question that begs to be asked...isn't Ryan a bit new to be taking two straight weeks off? Shadoe only did that ONCE in his run on AT40, and that was after the show was cancelled in the USA. And in 34 years, I can count on one hand the number of times Casey was off two weeks in a row. |

Doesnt bother me, people have to take vacation and as much as he works, 2 weeks off isnt bad. Plus I know I like to take a day or two from the end of the previous week off when I go on vacation too. Perhaps it is a case of that as well.
