Does anyone else think that the Satellite Survey might again be looking for a permanent host? I've been known to jump to wrong conclusions way too quickly at times, but I checked a little this morning after all the repeats that have been played lately. I checked on "The Merson Person" on Facebook this morning and it looks like Ken has started a new daily show on a Baltimore radio station just last week. I'd like to see Sirius XM go back to a top 40, but I'm sure that will never happen.

Any idea if there will be again a Top 30 with someone else or if the show is cancelled ? If they continue repeated shows for the moment, maybe they will keep on with new shows , no ?

Perfect opportunity to bring Lou back and make it Top 40 again.

it has been reduced to a Top 30 to eliminate listener complaints. . Just saw this.... people were actually complaining that this show was 40 songs long? I think that’s ridiculous. But as usual I didnt let SXM know how much I enjoyed it so no excuses

It is doubtful that Lou will ever be back as the host - he is just too busy. I did send an email of complaint a couple weeks after the show was switched to a Top 30, but I knew it was too little too late. The above are just my opinions - I have no inside info.

It was announced yesterday that current 60s on 6 DJ Dave Hoeffel will take over the countdown. He's done these in-house countdown shows before, hosting a similar show on 70s on 7 before they got the rights to replay Casey Kasem's AT40s.

Today's show at 2pm was yet another repeat--("Hits and Misses"). Any idea when Dave Hoeffel will start with new shows? It's not always convenient for me to listen at 2 pm on Saturdays, but I do enjoy the encores on Wednesdays at 9 p.m.

Finally, a new countdown featuring Dave Hoeffel featuring songs from November 1961. I wonder does this mean that many of these songs will begin to be featured on 60's on 6? in the past they were played on the 50's on 5.

Lou Simon, who used to program 60s on 6 and still hosts The Diner on Sunday nights, has explained that the time window for the playlist is 1963 to the end of the decade. Personally, I don't see it changing.

Of further note is that this is once again a top 40 countdown, as Lou Simon's were. The Ken Merson shows only covered the top 30.

Personally, I don't see it changing. I'm virtually certain I've heard songs from '62 on the '60's channel, and I'm pretty sure I've heard a few '60 and '61 songs as well. I believe that early '60's songs by the 4 Seasons, Del Shannon, the Beach Boys, Chubby Checker, the Phil Spector girl groups, and the early Motown acts are regularly featured on 60's on 6, whereas Connie Francis, Brenda Lee, Rick Nelson, and the Everly Brothers are usually relegated to '50's on 5.

Exactly my point, I was surprised to hear such an early countdown (from 1961)--since most of the songs featured are played on a different channel (50's on 5). Also, the chart was from the Billboard issue of the last week of November 1961 (and for the week ending December 3, 1961) sorta strange for this chart to be the first one for Dave to be the host.

Latest 60's Sat Survey was from the middle of December 1966. Great to hear songs you never hardly hear anywhere else, sprinkled with tidbits about the songs (and or artists). Hopefully they keep it up.
