Jeff,I'm thinking Dave will go with 2/16/63 or 2/23/63 next week-In any event,"Hey Paula" was the # 1 song. That is correct--I did space out there! Still had hoped for 1964 for Beatles 60th anniversary in the United States. This should be a shorter show with most songs being under 3 minutes.

I just wish Dave would announce the listener voting on his show. He did one time when I was able to, but I don't recall him for this special that aired last Saturday.
The countdown tomorrow features something rare--husband and wife (not in a duet) on the same chart. Steve Lawrence and slipping down the charts with "Go Away Little Girl," and his wife still moving up the chart with "Blame It On The Bossa Nova", Eydie Gorme. They married in 1957, and remained married until Eydie died at age 84 in 2013.

As I predicted, next week will be a special featuring 50 songs from the Billboard chart featuring R&B selections. We know there will be lots of Motown on this show!

He sure is--survey date should be 3-7-64, when "I Want To Hold Your Hand" was #1. In addition to several songs from the Beatles, other British artists will be Dusty Springfield and the Dave Clark Five. The day this show airs (3-2-24) will be exactly 25 years that Dusty passed away, at only age 59.

My apologies, I erroneously put next weekend's show (1968) in the Cashbox Thread. Date should be 3-9-68, and I as mentioned in Wrong Thread, #1 was "Love Is Blue" by Paul Mauriat. I would have deleted, but there have been responses to the original post. Sorry again......

Well I guessed wrong--chart date was 3-16-68, and #1 was "Dock of The Bay" by Otis Redding. I think this became the 1st posthumous #1 record during the rock and roll era. Next week is 1961, and I was wrong about this week's date, so Dave likes to keep me guessing. I will take a try and guess 3-20-61, which was a Monday as the chart dates were Mondays until early 1962. An upcoming show will be Top 50 songs by females of the 60's to commemorate Women's History Month in March, and if you want to cast a vote, Dave mentioned it is available to do so by 3-15-24. He will likely do the countdown 3-23 or 3-30-24. I typed in "Vote for Top '60s Females, and it took me to the site, and allows 15 songs to cast a vote for.

The next two performers who had posthumous # 1 hits were Janis Joplin with "Me & Bobby Mc Gee" in 1971 & Jim Croce in 1973 with "Time In A Bottle".

For the 1961 show this Saturday, look for another very short show. Most of the records, if not all, were under 3 minutes.
