Although Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know" didn't originally chart on the Hot 100, a live version from the 38th Annual Grammy Awards in 1996 was the tag-along B-side of "You Learn" later that year. Both the A- and the B-side were at #31 on the November 23 Hot 100.

But Alanis' cross-eyed bear doesn't make a guest appearance on stage, unfortunately.

But Alanis' cross-eyed bear doesn't make a guest appearance on stage, unfortunately. I saw two versions of that video on YouTube and neither one was censored (one even included host Ellen DeGeneres' introduction). I'm not sure if the censors missed it during the broadcast, or if the clips came from non-censored (i.e. non-U.S.) sources.

From their album Nimrod as well as the film Varsity Blues, "Nice Guys Finish Last" by Green Day was spending its sixth and final week on the Modern Rock Tracks chart for November 21, 1998. At #35 that week, the song peaked at #31. I'm sure the football-themed video is appropriate for all the games being played this Thanksgiving weekend.

This song got a lot of airplay on WHTZ (Z100) in New York back in 1990 and even made their Top 100 of the year, but on the Hot 100 "Dream Boy-Dream Girl" by Cynthia and Johnny "O" only reached #53. This week in 1990, the freestyle dance song was dropping from #80 to #81 on the chart.

I remember hearing it a bit in northeast PA in spring 1991 after moving there from the Midwest.

On the Album Rock Tracks chart for November 28, 1992, Alice in Chains was at #26 (dropping from their #24 peak the week before) with "Them Bones" from the album Dirt.

Covering Bob Dylan on their live album Stripped, The Rolling Stones' version of "Like a Rolling Stone" debuted and peaked at #109 in its only week on the Bubbling Under chart for December 2, 1995.

Named for the 80s movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off, ska punk band Save Ferris hit the Bubbling Under chart in 1997 with an 80s cover, Dexys Midnight Runners' "Come On Eileen". On the December 6 chart, the #104 peaker dropped from that position to #109.

The title track from Rush's 1991 album Roll the Bones (featuring lead singer Geddy Lee "rapping" during the bridge) rolled from #11 to #10 on the December 14 Album Rock Tracks chart, eventually reaching #9.

After being dissed by Dr. Dre and Snoop Doggy Dogg on Dre's album The Chronic, his former N.W.A. bandmate Eazy-E responded with the diss track "Real Muthaphuckkin G's", featuring Gangsta Dresta and B.G. Knocc Out. Down to #52 on the Hot 100 this week in 1993, the song would rebound and reach #42. Obviously NSFW lyrics and video content.

Here are two hip-hop songs on the December 18, 1999 Hot 100:
"Notorious B.I.G." by The Notorious B.I.G. featuring Puff Daddy and Lil' Kim was at its peak position of #82. Although the sample of Duran Duran's "Notorious" is clean, the rest of the lyrics are NSFW.
And this song was previously posted in the 2000s/2010s/2020s thread back in 2015, but its Hot 100 chart peak of #93 was before the end of 1999. At #98 on the December 18 chart, here's Dr. Dre featuring Snoop Dogg with "Still D.R.E.".
