Has anyone listened to these shows recently? Is it justs me or is something seem wrong with Casey's sound level or the way they recorded him. It is very easy to tell acoustically he isn't listening to the music they are playing and that they superimposed him talking over top of it.

I have never noticed a sound change because of that, when in the 2004 shows did you notice this?
I always say mid-late 2004 was a good turning point for the shows. Longer segments, fewer LDD's, a less robotic delivery from Casey, and the revival of some old features. And the end of once a month guest hosts!

I don't know when it started but I've been hearing it the last couple of months. It just doesn't sound like he's in a studio playing music. It sounds like what he was doing...taping the segments and then overlaying them on top of the songs. I wish I could explain it better because it's very noticeable to me when listening to shows from 74, 84, and 94 also.

Listening to AT20 from 7/31/04 and I hear it. And a random sampling of shows from 04-09 show some weeks with this extra quiet, almost superimposed Casey and other weeks where he sounds louder and more pronounced.

I like the shows from 2004. I thought Hot AC music was really good then but I never noticed any problems with the sound.

Throwback thread time!
I am listening to 7/24/04 and wow do I hear it on this one. It's like Casey recorded the voicetracks in a closet.
And I also forgot how good Hot AC music was in 2004/2005.
