You've already heard probably the interesting AT20 trivia related to the first extra song on this week's countdown. It was down under Midnight Oil's big 1988 smash "Beds Are Burning" introduced by Casey as "an environmental song by a band whose lead singer is now Australian Minister for the Environment..." Can you tell me of any other rock musicians turned politicians? Thanks

How about a current one!
John Hall, lead singer of Orleans, is a democratic congressman in New York!

Krist Novoselic, formerly of Nirvana, is politically active and talks of running for office, but so far hasn't done so.
And if we include R&B musicians, then Jerry Butler (once of the Impressions, later a solo star) is a Cook County (Chicago, IL) commissioner. Martha Reeves (leader of the Vandellas) is a Detroit city councilwoman.

The drummer from Blur, Dave Rowntree, has run for office in the U.K. twice in the past few years, but lost both times.
