Happy New Year to everybody and to start things rolling, while listening to the first countdown of 2008 this morning I have noticed that this time Casey counted those two holiday weeks when claiming the time spent by particular songs on their positions: (don't read further if you still want to find out for yourself on Sunday)
Santana with Chad Kroeger are spending their fifth week at number 7 Maroon 5 are spending their seventh week at number 5 and Colbie Caillat makes her 10th week at @1. She was spending her seventh on December 15-16, 2007 show which was the last weekly survey of 2007 as you all know.
You may remember that these counts varied over the years, if I recall it correctly during CT40 years Casey sometimes said on the first show in new year that the song was spending its (let's say) sixth week at number one, though I mistly recall that he said sixth time not the sixth week to avoid the fact that two weeks were missing owing to two part year-end countdown.

Oftentimes on the first weekly countdown of the year, Casey would simply say that the #1 song was spending "another" week at the top...and not actually say how many weeks it was there.

But I remember back in the early 90's at least he did not even acknowledge the weeks the year end countdown took place. So for instance "I Will Always Love You" spent it's "third" week at #1 the first regular survey of 1993, even though it spent the first two weeks the first two weeks of December and it was their obviously for the two weeks there was a year end show.

Right. But in the latter part of the 90s he started doing what I outlined above. I listened to part of the first show of 1996 over the holidays, and that was the case on that show.
