AP picked up an Arkansas Democrat-Gazette piece (their site tends to limit non-paid-subscriber access to anything other than breaking news) on how our friend from The Natural State first got together with Premiere and Casey (I'd never knew he'd never actually met Casey during his life outside of talking with him over the phone) Read at the San Francisco Chronicle site, of all things...dL

That's just hilarious that no one remembered the "secret code" and that shannon cracked it.....I always thought it was simple and clever when I figured it out years ago. It was unique to watermark productions. Speaking of secret code, the ink color on the program sleeve/box, stating the chart date/program # denotes international or domestic versions of the show. for AT 40, RED ink, domestic version (with national commericals) BLUE ink, international version (without national commericals) Soundtrack of the 60s had RED ink domestic version (with national commericals) BLACK ink international version (without national commericals). This carried through the Shadoe years also I believe.

Yes, that's a tedious job. You can only do so much with vinyl transfers of program discs, especially the when you get into the inner grooves, but the shows overall sound very good. were all watermark pressings from record tech? In the 70s they were. I assume they were for all shows pressed to vinyl.

Dale and Adam, thanks for the links, I actually posted the link on Facebook yesterday for the rest of the AT40 fanatics, and even Shannon Lynn caught wind of the article (and thanked me for finding it). The fact that Shannon got into radio so much while growing up and all, and that his little flea market search helped develop his status in becoming one of Casey's "preservers," if you will, is such a great story. And the fact he's been on board with a number of us to help Casey be recognized, including by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (something I've been taking the lead on, including a recent online petition mentioned on the forum), that's a gent with a true love for good music, and good radio. I'M the lucky one who wound up from doing business with him 9at least I plan to soon), to having him become a friend and colleague who shares that bond with me.
