Like a lot of you, I have many memories and stories about Casey Kasem. I have one story about Casey that still amazes me to this day. I attended a high school called "Southfield High School" in Southfield, Mi and when I was back in high school, we had a school newspaper called "The Southfield Jay". Well, this one particular issue I will never forget. Here's the story! At the time, I was a sophomore in high school and this was just a few months after I had started listening to American Top 40 and at the time, I was just becoming a hard core listener of AT40. In this particular issue, there was a small article about our high school's girls swim team and they were profiling some of the members of the swim team including a pair of twin sisters that I was friends with at the time and I also had a crush on one of the twins. In fact, I began to have a crush on her just around the same time that I had started listening to AT40. Amazing timing! Well, on the very next page in that newspaper, there was an advertisement featuring none other than Casey. It was an advertisement where Casey was talking about his love for Wayne State University. In the advertisement he said, "WAYNE STATE, GREAT SCHOOL!". How about that, an advertisement of Casey on the page after the story of the girls swim team, which profiled one of the twin sisters that I had a crush on. Unfortunately, I don't have that issue anymore. I made the mistake by getting rid of all of my Southfield Jay issues. Big mistake. Oh well, I still have the memories. By the way, Casey did inspire me to go to Wayne State, which I did attend. I never graduated but I do plan on going back and finish up my bachelor's degree.
