Here are a few more shows that I have listened to in the last couple of weeks.
7/28/84 (Countdown America): I love listening to 1983 and 84 CA shows because it is one of the shows where I can hear Radio and Records chart action. I never realized "Legs" was a top 5 hit on R and R. And I always like hearing "10-9-8" not at number 38! Interesting: I listened to the CA show from 5/12/84 back in May and the CA spotlight was on Steve Perry. If you don't know (or have heard) CA: Every hour, the show would play an extra from an artist who was currently on the show. In May, I got Perry. In July I got...Steve Perry. Kind of a letdown just because I wanted to hear a different artist. Oh well.
8/3/85 (Satellite Survey): Dan is out so we get..Barsky. For those who do not know, Paul Barsky was a long time DJ in Philadelphia (as well as other places). The best way to describe Barsky is that he is a northern version of 1985 Rick Dees. Over the top, things that would NEVER be heard in 2023, etc. The worst part? In each of the hours, Barsky would make fun of Casey. He would be speaking normal, then all of a sudden start acting like he was being possessed and then all of a sudden he became "Casey Casey" where he would intro the next song in an over the top Casey Kasem impression. I thought it was one of the most repulsive things I have heard. My wife, however, enjoyed the pain that it seemed to bring me. LOL, no more Barsky!
8/8/87: A great show. Three songs debuted that would go to #1 (I Just Can't Stop Loving You, Where Do Broken Hearts Go, Here I Go Again). Surface, The System and Klymaxx on the show make it amazing for me. Robbie Nevil in the top 10. ABC on its way to the top 5. Danny Wilson and Living In The Box sightings...love it. Quick question since I am not near my files, and I don't remember how it was handled: Did Casey on the 8/15/87 show recap the top 3? I ask because "I Want Your Sex" jumped to number 2. On this particular show, Casey didn't say the title before or after "Sex" played. Was curious if anyone remembered or knew.
Also: Is this the only few weeks that one album in the 80's had three top 10 hits at the same time? The Jets, Michael, and Bob Seger all had big hits (and all that week in the t10) on the "Beverly Hills Cop II" soundtrack.
