I must say that after hearing Casey's tribute to Billy Preston on AT20 this morning that it was without a doubt one of the most heartfelt tributes I have ever heard Casey give. It was obvious that Casey was close to Billy to some extent, giving us an ultra-rare glimpse into his personal life by mentioning that Billy had sung at Casey and Jean's wedding. By the end, it sounded as if Casey was fighting back tears.
While a tremendously sad event, it was without a doubt a moment in which the power of radio was shown as I truly felt an emotional connection to the story. An example of how powerful radio can be, especially with a talent like Casey Kasem. One of Casey's finest moments, IMO.

I absolutely agree with you there, Brett! The only disappointment was the "Number 3" jingle played right after the tribute and the countdown continuing on with Natasha Bedingfield. I would rather have had Casey simply introduce the next song, or better yet, play a song by Preston as an extra! "With You I'm Born Again" would have been perfect!
The same could have been done with Casey's tribute to June Pointer back in May. If I were host, after the tribute, I would have honored June's passing by playing any of the great number of songs she and her sisters produced (I'm thinking "I'm So Excited!")!
You might recall when Joe Strummer of The Clash died back in late 2002, Casey paid tribute to him and as an extra on AT40, played "Rock the Casbah"! This was risky in that 1) extras on AT40 in the later years were rare, and 2) a song from 1982 was playing on CHR stations in 2003! If I recall, it received great reviews from us on the computer!
Any reviews of Casey's tribute to Preston on AT10?

I also think that the jingle after Casey´s tribute was the wrong thing. I agree that after such an element in the show a song by the artist should be played.
The same with the "extras" and the "book of records". All stories in the show should be followed by a song, I think.

What he said though was very heartfelt.
