Not sure about the first 4 or 5 consecutive songs, but if we're talking debut songs, one show that comes to mind as having one of the best sets of debuts that I can remember is 6/18/83:
"1999" "Sweet Dreams" "Stand Back" "She Works Hard For the Money" "Is There Something I Should Know"

I swear I had never heard of Daft Punk when I posted this. After they won Record of the Year and Album of the Year I looked it up. Yikes.

If you have never heard of Daft Punk, where have you been the past 15 years?
They've put out some great stuff over the years, but in true Grammy style, were awarded Album of the Year for a mediocre outing, compared to their past work.

I think I burned out on it when I chose to make my hobby my work, and had to listen to songs instead of choosing to listen to them. The Houston/Estefan/Bolton/Kenny G/Carey Years. Scarred for life. I just thought it was really weird that the first three songs I posted would have fit right in on this album released 34 years later - an album that won a Grammy just as I was posting them. That freaked me out a little bit.

It's not like anyone held a gun to my head and made me work for an AC station in the late 80s and early 90s but it also isn't always a simple thing to change careers - especially when you're being paid to do very little real work.

1/30/82 40: DON'T STOP BELIEVIN' - JOURNEY 39: SPIRITS IN THE MATERIAL WORLD - THE POLICE 38: PAC-MAN FEVER - BUCKNER & GARCIA 37: THAT GIRL - STEVIE WONDER Without conducting my own exhaustive search through hundreds of hot 100 charts, I vote for the above first four. On an aside, is anyone interested in posting their personal favorite "final four" (I.e., #4-#1) in a newly created thread? Or is this to wait until the first weekend in April (to coincide with NCAA men's basketball)? Just curious.

8/14/76 that I am listening to now has maybe the best start to a countdown since this thread was created. And while the first four are great, it's really twice that amount....
40 STREET SINGING 39 SHE'S GONE 38 STILL THE ONE 37 GETAWAY 36 TEAR THE ROOF OF THE SUCKER 35 SHOWER THE PEOPLE 34 DEVIL WOMAN 33 WHAM BAM
Best 5 are actually 39,38,37,35 and 33.
