I think I just answered my own question...disclaimer, I haven't listened to both AT40 shows to know exactly the differences in the voice tracks. If the only differences are the references to Dick Clark's New Year's Eve TV show, then AT40 was used as a vehicle to self-promote his TV production. It's that reason only is why he did two different voice tracks.
Now, different extras is still kinda senseless because even Carson Daly's DD YE special repeated the same show this weekend (Top 30 of year of the Top 60 - Part 2) without any changes. The reason for that is still a mystery to me maybe someone could tell me why. Different extras?

"American Country Countdown" also is re-running the Top 30 of 2013 this weekend. Same show, probably to give all hosts a break. Brian I wonder if Amerioan Country Countdown's ratings are in decline just like the original American Top 40 did 20 years ago? |

Considering it's still around 8 years later and Kix Brooks has an overnight show now, I would say it's not in anymore decline than any other radio show is or would be in 2014. |

Wait, your telling me that for THREE weeks, Carson Daly counted down the Top 60 of 2013? The 1st 30 (60-31) before x-mas, the top 30 after x-mas, and the top 30 repeated again this weekend??? Danm I wish I had known, I didnt even turn it on this week. WIAD had screwed up part of the show when I recorded part II last week, they aired a section from the previous week (60-31), if i had known they were re-airing, might of gotten my missing section. Oh well.
I for one an thankfull that AT40 does repeat its top 40 of the year for 2 weeks. Last weekend I got exactly 90 mins of the show. My timer to fire the tape to record the 1st 90s mins of the show, didnt fire for some reason, and I passed on recording the final hour in favor of getting Carson Daly knowing full well I could catch it the next weekend. That being said, I did enjoy the top100, it made the year end countdown relevent. However, a top 100 would somewhat piss me off now because for some reason, WIHT has decided to NOT air the optional extras (except sometimes the last 1 in hour 4), and of course in the top 100 shows, the optional extras were actually songs in the countdown. Missing those would tick me off. I know the days of a top 100 are over but maybe a top 80? or top 70? 60? with a bunch of extras......that would make it relevent again.
