Casey just read the tops of the other charts, and mentioned what was currently "number one on the Christmas chart". Is this a special AC chart? I know R&R is still publishing a Soft AC chart (although the spin totals are drastically lower). I did not realize there was actually a Christmas chart for the holiday season.

I don't think it's an official chart, they probably just did a quick search of Christmas songs on Mediabase and listed the one getting the most overall spins. Either that or they've been lurking around another message board where I post.

Ah, but R&R DOES print a special Christmas chart during the month of December. Number one on it is "Up On The Housetop" by Kimberley Locke.
The thing about it is, all the old Christmas songs are on a recurrent chart, and the top song on that is "O Holy Night" by Josh Groban, which is getting twice as many plays as "Up On The Housetop". Since this chart is only in three or four issues of R&R, I don't see any point for a recurrent chart. Just list the 30 songs that are receiving the most plays.

Why do I sense that is a worthless chart? Does it really change that much from year to year?

I get the idea that it's mostly new music on it, so the "chestnuts" like "The Christmas Song" by Nat King Cole aren't on it.
