Did anybody notice that this week's edition of AT20 featured 2 extras by Sarah McLachlan? Do you suppose it was done intentionally or by accident? Is this one of those "we need to sound more repetitious so we're like the station's regular playlist" type deals?

I don't think playing an artist twice in a show is necessarily bad. When American Country Countdown plays extras, Bob Kingsley tends to play a double shot of a particular countdown artist (for example, "that was Keith Urban's latest hit, coming in at #8, and it was 3 years ago this week that Keith was on the chart with..."). Ryan Seacrest does that as well on AT40. I wouldn't mind seeing Casey do that. But as for the 2 Sarah extras, that seems a bit odd. Not even Kingsley or Seacrest will play 2 extras by a single artist on their 4-hour shows.

Actually, when I first started listening to American Country Countdown again in 2002, there were 3 Alan Jackson songs played on one show. "Drive" which was on the chart, an ACC Mailbag song of his though which one it was escapes me, and then as an "extra" following Drive they played Summertime Blues. A rare happening, but it HAS happened nonethless.

Let me clarify my above post...it's a little more understandable if a listener request constitutes one of the 2 extras by a single artist (although I believe ACC could have chosen a different weekend to play one of the Alan extras). I remember ACC doing this a handful of times over the last few years, especially with George Strait. It's like Casey having an artist with a Countdown song, a LDD, and an extra. I would have less of a problem with that than with 2 non-requested extras by one artist (even a Phil Collins/Genesis or Rob Thomas/Matchbox 20 pair of extras would push it in my opinion). Whether it be Casey, Bob, or Ryan (or anyone), I personally prefer a greater variety. If an artist has 2 (or 3 on occasion...Vertical Horizon, Kelly, Green Day) songs on the chart, then I think the staff should avoid an extra by that artist. It's not like there's only a 1-week window where a song was "one of the hottest songs in the USA back in XXXX".

I agree, not to mention there were many other "hottest songs in the USA" the same week the host are allegedly referring to.

Maybe this had something to do with the lack of a LDD.
