One of the greatest vocalists of all-time will apparently never sing again. It is indeed devastating.

How sad! Thoughts and prayers go out to her. And gratitude as well for that wonderful voice she shared through all these years and hopefully for generations to come.

Sorry to hear that one of our greatest vocalists has been diagnosed with Parkinson's-Linda Ronstadt truly has a heaven-sent voice-My late wife,Aprile, said her voice was in the range of a mezzo soprano-I hope Linda can beat this disease-I know she will.

I don't see anything on Wikipedia about this. If this is true, this will make three musicians with Parkinson's Disease or the like. Linda Ronstadt, Anne Murray and Captain from Captain & Tennille. Who will be next?

I'm not sure if Anne Murray has Parkinson's Disease but I heard her in an interview about a year ago stating that she has officially retired from music because she can no longer sing because her singing voice is gone.

I just read on yahoo.com that Casey Kasem has Parkinson's Disease and that there is a feud between his wife and his children because his wife, Jean, will not allow anyone to see him. According to the article, the children were cut out of his will years ago. Eerie. I just heard Scott Shannon mention this a while ago. I don't know what to say.

First off, I would like to apologize in advance to everyone here at the AT40 boards. I am about to go into a "Casey Kasem Snuggles" type rant here after I saw this post: First, Linda Ronstadt, then Captain of Captain & Tennille, and now Casey Kasem. Celebrities dying of Parkinson's disease - is it becoming a new trend now? (steps on the soapbox) Geez, could you be a little more insensitive there, buddy? First of all, hula hoops are a trend. Disco music is a trend. Rubik's cubes are a trend. Thinking that celebrities might die of Parkinson's IS NOT A TREND!!!!! How dare you say that, OldSchoolAT40Fan! Also, what makes you think that Linda Ronstadt & Daryl Dragon are dying? Muhammad Ali was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 1984 & he's still alive. Michael J. Fox has Parkinson's & he's got his own show now. I'm probably sure he isn't dying. What is your obsession about people & other things wanting to die? The only obsession that you have worse than this is you not liking songs that have "questionable content" because you are a prude & if you hear anyone listening to any of those "questionable" songs, you probably tell them that they're going to hell. You know, of all the stupid things that you said here, you've sure posted a lot of doozies, but this one takes the cake. You don't even think twice about posting what your feeble little mind can come up with. I'm probably sure this is due to your autism. (BTW, this is not a knock against people with autism. I am an Aspy myself.) Finally, if you or anyone else does something that pisses me off on these boards i.e. asking JDelach what next week's show or what the optional extras are going to be because you have no patience, continually posting ever week about what songs Premiere edited or "butchered", always talking about some pirate Internet station that's done in someone's Mom's basement that only 10 people listen to, having 99 out of 100 posts be about a '70s British band that will never get in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, bolding country songs because they're more important to you than pop songs (even though you won't admit it), etc., I will more than likely call you out. As Alice Cooper once sang: No more Mr. Nice Guy No more Mr. Clean (ean...ean...ean) Once again, I want to apologize to everybody on these boards. A lot of you guys are really cool, but when something like this seriously pisses me off, I often think if the AT40 boards would be better off without that person. Anyway, that is all I have to say. "Celebrities dying of Parkinson's disease-is it becoming a new trend now?" OldSchool, you're an inconsiderate moron! (steps off the soapbox)

Maybe I should stay away from such threads if I am uncertain if it's going to be offensive to others.
And by the way, I do like controversial music with questionable lyrics. They don't offend me one bit. In fact, I get a laugh at some of those lyrics at times. It's just that, as much as I like such songs, I have to look out for the best interests of some people or some people in certain groups.
I deleted my previous post in this thread, out of respect for others.

Now that I think about it, I am agreeing with what ponderousman said. Guess I tend to sometimes post without giving it much thought.
