On the 1/8/05 edition of AT20, I noticed that two of the "big hits from a previous year" songs were actually repeated segments from earlier shows. This might not have been as noticable if it weren't the first show of the year, since the "# of years ago" was wrong in both cases as a result. I sometimes wonder how the show's producers fail to notice things like this.

I noticed this too. One, I believe, was "Good Intentions" but what was the other? I know that most of those songs had been featured as extras at one point or another, so I didn't know a 2nd story had been reused.
I also was not aware that they ever "re used" Casey voicetracks for stories. I always just assumed even if a story repeated, Casey read it again.

I know there have been plenty of instances where Casey had re-read a story, but that was clearly not the case this past weekend.
Besides "Good Intentions", the other song to be repeated was "Broken Wings." What's more, the latter song was introduced as having been "on it's way to #1 19 years ago this week in 1985."
Not even close...

Yeah, the song was on its way FROM number one nineteen years ago this week back in 1986.

To play "devil's advocate" here...maybe it was all just a matter of the mistake everyone makes when writing checks in January. You still think it's the previous year, so perhaps that screwed up the math?

You still think it's the previous year, so perhaps that screwed up the math? I can see where that might happen, but in both cases I distinctly remember hearing the exact same segment on a previous show, so it seems to me that they were intentionally edited into the 1/8/05 show for whatever reason. Also, with regards to "Broken Wings," even if the writers got their math wrong, the fact remains -- that song was not "on it's way to #1" in January of any year!
