Lumberton!! LOL Last I checked, it was not even a suburb of Fayetteville, much less Raleigh! That's Rick for ya! Not too far from Fuquay myself. Btw Hits 100.3 in Greensboro is a great station with their commercial free weekends.

So would the 1/2/1993 CT40 show be the same as the Dees 12/19/1992 show? Yes it would. And woolebull is mis-remembering - there were indeed four debuts. Except for year-end periods when they weren't on the same schedule (such as 1992-93), and around the R&R chart change in April 1994, all short-lived instances, Dees and Casey didn't diverge until after ABC picked up Dees that July. Mike, can you tell us how many debuts happened on the 1/16 shows on CT and Dees? I assume the action on that chart was crazy: I don't know the whole chart but know you had the biggest dropper ever on R and R that stayed in the top 40 (or at least until Linkin Park tied it or came close in 2017) with "Where You Going Now", as well as The Heights dropping out of the whole 40 from position 21.

Now you do. worldradiohistory.com/Archive-RandR/1990s/1993/RR-1993-01-08.pdf (last page) (or at least until Linkin Park tied it or came close in 2017) Tied for second place actually, with the following: "Real Love", 14-37 on 6/17/89 "All or Nothing", 6-29 on 3/10/90 "Blowing Kisses in the Wind", 10-33 on 1/18/92

I forgot "Real Love" dropped like a rock like that. "All or Nothing" is understandable. I remembered when "Heavy" by Linkin Park plunged that Ryan actually referenced d**n Yankees as "Heavy" was the biggest dropper since 1993. Thank you for reminding me about Jody! And thanks Mike, for always answering questions and helping me to remember everything correctly. I appreciate the comments and banter!

"All or Nothing" is understandable. You might think differently when it's considered that that's the only one of those to not drop right off the chart the week after dropping 20-plus. It instead went 6-29-35-off. Figure that one out!

Lumberton!! LOL Last I checked, it was not even a suburb of Fayetteville, much less Raleigh! That's Rick for ya! Not too far from Fuquay myself. Btw Hits 100.3 in Greensboro is a great station with their commercial free weekends. That's what made me laugh out loud. I was running yesterday in High Point listening to the aforementioned show and when he busted out "Lumberton", I almost had to stop (partially for the reasons you just explained, partially the sheer lunacy of hearing Lumberton and Fuquay getting love from Rick on a nationally syndicated show). People on the greenway were literally looking at me and wondered if I needed help! I know people on this board do not really care for Rick (or to be fair, do not care for The Weekly Top 40). I am blessed because my wife's uncle is one of Rick's best friends so I have gotten to see and hear so many wonderful stories of the person he really is. He has been a part of my weekends since I was 11 via radio, and a part of my family since I have been married. I will always have a very soft spot for Mr. Dees! Hits 100.3 is a great station. I've been blessed throughout my life in Virginia or in NC to be around some of the best top 40 stations, regardless or market size. From K92 in Roanoke, to 107.5, 100.3, and 98.7 in the Triad to G105 in the Triangle, I appreciate how all of those stations have helped to fuel my passion for present day music: whether it was 1984 or 2022! Even if some of them now are wearing iHeart of their sleeves

"All or Nothing" is understandable. You might think differently when it's considered that that's the only one of those to not drop right off the chart the week after dropping 20-plus. It instead went 6-29-35-off. Figure that one out! The chart on which "All Or Nothing" took that monster drop was extremely tight. Between #30 and #7, all but three songs were bulleted, and no songs moved more than five spots up (well, except for "Black Velvet", which moved ahead six spots and was at the top of that zone). With such competition in such a large portion of the chart, chances are the droppers, which were out of the running at that point, would take large drops, and that was indeed correct. Gloria Estefan's "Here We Are" didn't do too bad, falling six spots, but the Cover Girls' "We Can't Go Wrong" fell 8-24 and "All Or Nothing" - well, you know. Perhaps that last song took such a hard fall because people were simply getting tired of Milli Vanilli mania, as that album had been out for well over a year. Or perhaps, somehow, people knew... Anyway, the following week, the chart was noticeably less congested. Several of the songs that had been moving up the week before began slipping, so the Cover Girls slowed their descent, moving down a mere six spots, such was the case with Milli Vanilli. Since the Top 20 was still a little tight, there were a few songs taking large drops, but not like the ones the week before.

This week's (June 18, 2022) CHR AT40 has no debuts, the fourth time that's happened under Ryan Seacrest and the first since October 2013.
