With AT20 AC becoming AT10 and countdowing only the top 10 AC songs using a customised survey by Mediabase I just wanted to know what your thoughts were on Hot AC new songs since the Hot AC version of Casey's program still focus on the top 20 Hot AC songs which still uses the R&R/Mediabase survey.

Although Hot AC is slower than CHR, it's still a lot better than AC. There is often at least one debut on AT20 each week, which keeps the chart more interesting than AT10's chart.
In terms of the entire HAC chart, it's still a lot faster than the AC chart. For the R&R chart dated 8/6, only 9 songs have been on the chart for 20 weeks or more. Of course, 8 of those 9 are in the top 15 per the recurrent rule (OutKast's "The Way You Move" re-enters at #40, it's 20th chart week). On this week's chart, there are 4 debuts in addition to the re-entry.
I personally would enjoy a show that played the top 30 of the HAC chart (and only be 3 hours, not like Dees' HAC show.)

It would be great to just focus on the current music but even in Hot AC they need their Gold, and hey I am happy that AT20 played Tom Tom Club's "Geinus of Love." Far better than Mariah singing a song that samples it. |
