From the Class of 1983, the year I got my first radio:
"Make Believe It's Your First Time" - The Carpenters (#101 pop/#7 AC)
"Hold Me 'Til The Morning Comes" - Paul Anka (#40 pop/#2 AC)
"Minimum Love" - Mac McAnally (#41 pop/#7 AC, previously mentioned)
"Front Page Story" - Neil Diamond (#65 pop/#5 AC)
"Innocent Eyes" - Michel Berger (did not make the top 100/#23 AC)
"Old And Wise" - Alan Parsons Project (did not make the top 100/#21 AC)
"You Haven't Heard The Last Of Me" - Peter Allen (did not make the top 100/#15 AC)
"Easy For You To Say" - Linda Ronstadt (#54 pop/#7 AC)
"What You Do To Me" - Carl Wilson (of the Beach Boys) (#72 pop/#20 AC)
"Some Kind Of Friend" - Barry Manilow (#26 pop/#1 AC)
"The Way He Makes Me Feel" - Barbra Streisand (#40 pop/#1 AC)
"Make Love Stay" - Dan Fogelberg (#29 pop/#1 AC)
"Always" - Firefall (#59 pop/#24 AC)
"Take The Short Way Home" - Dionne Warwick (#41 pop/#5 AC)
"All The Love In The World" - Dionne Warwick (#101 pop/#16 AC)
"Nights Are Forever" - Jennifer Warnes (#105 pop/#8 AC)
"Ophelia" - Jesse Colin Young (of Youngbloods fame) (did not chart neither pop nor AC)
"Smiling Islands" - Robbie Patton & Stevie Nicks (#52 pop/#16 AC)
"Mornin'"- (Al) Jarreau (#21 pop/#2 AC)
"Trouble In Paradise" - Al Jarreau (#63 pop/#10 AC)
"All My Life" - Kenny Rogers (#37 pop/#2 AC/#13 country)
"All Time High" - Rita Coolidge (#36 pop/#1 AC)
I guess it was my exposure to AC stations and not so much Top 40. This list does not consist of my favorite songs that should have charted higher; it is reflective of what I heard on the radio at the time.

Let's see ... "Tiny Dancer" - Elton John, 1972 (#41 pop/#35 AC) It's amazing, given the amount of airplay it still gets, that "Tiny Dancer" was Elton's only Uni/MCA/Rocket/Geffen single from 1971 until 1986 that did not make the top 40 on the Hot 100. As I recall, RSO made a decision not to release "More Than a Woman" commercially as a 7-inch single. Therefore, it could not chart on the Hot 100 even though it was receiving plenty of airplay as a "Fever" LP track. [/quote]

I always thought Patrice Rushen's 'Forget me nots', should charted higher pop, than #23!

"That's When the Music Takes Me"-Neil Sedaka #27. Casey mentioned in this week's 70s show how Neil had a hand in 8 hits over the previous 12 months. This one was the only one of those that missed the top 20. Should have been a top 10 hit IMO.

I thought that 'Mama used to say', from Junior, should've done better than only #30 pop.
