Obviously the "numbers jingles" have changed over the years on AT40. Was there a particular company or group of singers that produced these? I particularly like the "numbers" jingles from '84-'87.

I like the more melodic versions that were used in the mid-late 80's. I hope that's clear, I dont know any other way to describe them. Not the ones that were common during that era, but the ones they would use occasionally instead of the usual.

Thanks for asking Skyseth-I have been looking for the jingles as well, preferably for the year end shows. I'm compiling a personal show-the top 100 of the past 25 years.

You may be in luck. I've compiled as many of the jingles over the years as I could. Most are a mix from the 90s & 80s. CT40 & AT40. I have, however, quite a few holes. I'm missing 2 jingles from #62 - #1 : #56 & #44 I think (allthough I guess you could say I'm missing #2 & #1 [were these ever aired?], in the place of those I used the beginning segment from the return of AT40 in the 90s where the singers sing 5,4,3,2,number 1). And obviously I have quite a few holes from #100 - #62. Some end of the year surveys (e.o.t.y.) had almost no jingles. Perhaps others out there may have e.o.t.y. surveys w/ the missing jingles.

During Shadoe's early years, he played a #1 jingle as an April Fool's type of joke. I do have it, as well as a #2 jingle from the Shadoe years.

Here's a link to the page where you can get the #1 jingle if you're interested. It's the last link on the page. calbean.users3.50megs.com/at40/promotest.html(It's a low quality mp3. I have better if you want it)

Interesting.
I also heard a No.2 jingle on a couple of shows I recorded. From the way the singers sing it, a slow song is playing.
"Num-ber 2" and they drag the '2' for about a second
(sorry. that was the best way I could describe it)

Nothing scientific, but playing numeric jingles seemed to be more common in the early days of AT40. I have been collecting jingles myself and prefer the nostalgic feel to those early 70's jingles.

I couldn't agree more. The early shows are from a truly different era. I feel like I'm travelling back in time when a show from the early 1970s is played--particularly 70-71 when the entire feel of the show is so different.

I've updated the numjingles file to include 10 additional number positions from 100-1 In addition, I've added a second file that includes number jingles from the "Current" AT40 run, w/ Ryan Seacrest. Which is mostly complete. You can however, easily edit these to essentially create the missing ones. I editted a few of em myself. download from this directory: oblivion.quadspeedi.net/~eddie
