Since there is a regular show on March 17, 1990, and also a special, and everytime there is a special show during 1990, there is a regular show:
Is there a regular show of Casey´s Top 40 November 24, 1990 ?.
The only show listed is the special.
Thanks.

I know for a fact that Top 40 Million Sellers of the 80's was the only show produced that week. Casey plugged the show at least 2 weeks before and mentioned that he would be counting it down Thanksgiving weekend. At the end of the November 17 show, he said that he was going to be counting down the Top 40 Million sellers the next week. So yeah, the special show pre-empted the regular weekly show. I think that maybe Westwood One found out that many stations were slighting their special shows (i.e. Top 40 Movie Hits of the 1980s, Top 40 Dance Hits of the 1980s, and so forth) and decided not to give them a choice that week.

Yeah worked out great seeing as how I don't remember them ever doing another. To accuse them of slighting them is going too far IMO. They produced a regular show as well as a special. Now if they wanted the special aired all they had to do was produce 1 show.

They indeed did not do this again - in fact, outside of year-end specials, this was the last special show that Westwood One ever did. Of course, by then, they had pretty much played every configuration of "top hits of the 80s" that there was - that was practical, anyway. It could be that, since they knew this was their last special dealing with big hits of the 1980s, they wanted it to really count, so they decided to hold off on doing a regular weekly show on November 24 so each of their affiliates would run their last top hits of the 80s show. Now don't quote me on this, since it's merely speculation, as I did not work for Westwood One, lol!

Now that I'm older I would like liked one maybe on top acts and top newcomers of the 90s. But that's now. Back then I would have been po'd hearing anything but the weekly show and year enders.

The following week, did Casey give chart positions and give last weeks top 3 based on the chart James just posted, or based in their own regular countdown 2 weeks before?

It was Mark Elliott who hosted on 12/1 not Casey 2. I had a copy of the show but lost it recently. I'll look into it and send you a copy once I get it.
