That was the chart I referenced above. Shadoe even mentioned that the 6/19/1982 chart was the last chart to have that many debuts. And we don't count AT40 episodes when the chart source changed featuring a purge of debuts and re-entries.

I don't really think it would be considered a recurrent rule - it was just a one-time purge, which might not have gone over well with the listeners, since, as far as I can tell, that is the only time they did that. Of course, I haven't listened to the show (the CHR version, anyway) for nearly ten years, so I'm not sure, but, from what I've read, they're still using the same stale chart and haven't done any kind of chart purge since then.
