In 1980, Fred Knoblock had a Top 20 hit called "Why Not Me" and there is a lyric in the song that goes:

Well, I think we're all here
I see Bill and Charlie
No, wait -- Eddie got smart
He had a golf game and he just had to go to it

I bet Eddie was thinking, I'm not gonna waste my time going to a wedding, I might as well play some golf.

Great song. Still own the 45 RPM record and bought the sheet music so I could play the song on the piano.

Maybe he felt better after "Killin' Time" with Susan Anton at the reception. It at least got him another hit.
