Scott McKenzie, who was most famous for the 1967 Top 5 hit “San Francisco (Wear Some Flowers In Your Hair),” died Saturday in the Los Angeles area. He was 73. The cause of death was Guillain-Barre syndrome, a nerve disorder. He was born Phillip Wallach Boldheim on January 10, 1939.

Sorry to hear this. But when I saw the name I thought of the DJ I listened to for many years when I lived in the Orlando/Space Coast area.

"San Francisco" was written by John Phillips of The Mamas & Papas.

McKenzie,Phillips,Mike Love and Terry Melcher (the son of Doris Day and producer of hits by Paul Revere and the Raiders) co-wrote the Beach Boys #1 song Kokomo.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet. Scott was also a member of the Mamas & the Papas when they reunited in the 1980s.
