Thought I would have seen something posted by now (7/3) on ReelRadio.com about any special 4th of July programming for American Top 40. Guess I'll check again in the morning.

Nothing special - when you click on the July 4 banner at the top of the page, it just takes you to a list of all the shows on ReelRadio that are July 4th-related.

^Just to clarify, the "shows" are mostly Independence Day programming on different radio stations. The only AT40 show is a two-part Bicentennial Special as it was heard on WPIX on July 4th, 1976.

Just a note to let you know that the AT40 Book of Records special (from July 5, 1980) will be spotlighted -- in its entirety -- in a couple of weeks over Labor Day weekend. You'll hear the original broadcast, as heard on Los Angeles radio station KIIS-FM.

AT40 Book of Records (1980) may not be heard on the Premier series as it will not fit the format of the 80's show affiliates. Since I am a big fan of KIIS-FM especially in the early 80's, I hope that the station jingles, weather reports ("LA Weather") and traffic reports will be maintained in the broadcast as much as possible.

pamelajaye, That program will "air" just as if you were in Los Angeles and listening to radio station KIIS on Sunday, July 6, 1980. But know that it will be available only to the site's subscribers. You'll need to go to the reelradio.com web site for subscription details, if interested.
upland1425, I believe it's a completely unedited broadcast. But one question -- did KIIS offer traffic reports during Sunday broadcasts of AT40?

For those planning ahead, look for special programming next Sunday and Monday, September 2 & 3. Thank you, Pete, for this information. I just checked into their website and found that the AT40 Book of Records will be aired on Sunday, September 2 and Monday, September 3, both at 9 am Pacific or 12 noon Eastern. www.reelradio.com/Do you know if any other programs, such as Big Ron O'Brien's On The Radio show, will also be featured then?

A two-day, two-program AT40 marathon begins at 12 noon eastern time (9 a.m. pacific time) today featuring the July 5 1980 Book of Records special and the July 4, 1981 Beatles special. Both programs were recorded off of KIIS-FM Los Angeles.
You'll need to check the web site for specific times for each program. Enjoy!

You may want to add one more year-end AT40 program to holiday listening today or tomorrow. Reelradio is spotlighting AT40's Top 80 of 1972 in a special exhibit.
Happy New Year!

That is really good news. I first listened to AT40 in 1972 and just thought it was a weekly countdown. Had no idea that there would be a special year end countdown, so the Top 80 of 1972 was exciting to listen to the first time. The first 45 RPM pop record that I ever bought was "Alone Again (Naturally)" and I was hoping it would be the #1 record of the year. Unfortunately, it came in at #2.
The only copy I have of this show is from XM radio and it was the edited version so it will be great to get a full copy of the countdown.

Recording came off without a hitch. Nice, strong stream with nothing edited out. Wish all of the Year End countdowns were available at ReelRadio.
Then I imagine what it would be like if a 70's and 80's show was broadcast each weekend. My collection of AT40 shows would be perfect.
