I downloaded Henry Lee Summer's song "Darlin' Danielle Don't" this afternoon. It made the Hot 100 in 1988, but didn't make it to AT40.
What I'd like to know, what was the song about? Was it about Henry Lee Summer's plea to Danielle to not do drugs?
And who was Danielle, to the singer?

First off that Henry Lee Summer album is one of my favorites, the song "I Wish Had A Girl" was what hooked me.
As for what the song is about, tough to say. Could be most anything, could be about drugs, could be about cheating, could be about getting drunk, who knows? Could be totally made up or about a friend.
The reason I say this is because for years I thought the Billy Joel song was about an ex girlfriend of his, turns out he wrote it about Biannca Jagger with the intent for Mick Jagger to record it. Billy even sings it in the style of Mick.
