From the 5/9/87 show talking about the group Poison...
"We're countin' down to a heavy metal band of four tough, macho guys who went to a gig one night and just couldn't go on stage. They forgot their blush, mascara and eye liner....heavens!"

I got a chuckle hearing Casey introduce Bill Withers' "Lovely Day" (on the 1/28/78 AT40) as Bill having better days since his first top 40 hit "Ain't No Sunshine."

I got a chuckle hearing Casey introduce Bill Withers' "Lovely Day" (on the 1/28/78 AT40) as Bill having better days since his first top 40 hit "Ain't No Sunshine." Speaking of chuckles and that countdown, I heard Casey laughing twice in it: once when telling the story of Maria Muldaur's mother misunderstanding her recording contract (thinking her daughter was being pressed into prostitution), and after hearing the childlike voice at the end of the "Close Encounters" theme (actually provided by adult singer Kascy Ciszyk, as he explained.)

I liked his introduction of "Pac Man Fever" by Buckner & Garcia on 1/30/1982 show. Casey talks about the video game while snippets of games sound effects were played.

On last week's show from 2/13/88,when Casey told the story of Richard Marx beginning his career as a commercial jingle singer-I laughed when Casey attempted to sing the Quasar jingle.

Casey chuckled in the 2/14/76 countdown when telling the story of the Captain & Tennille's wedding in the saloon in Virginia City, Nevada, in which a couple of soused patrons had to serve as witnesses.

Does this count? Casey seemed to get really excited about intro-ing Kool & The Gang on the 1983 July 4th holiday countdown of the biggest acts of the 1980s so far. I assume K&TG did Celebration and it was in the middle of the countdown, around #20? This is all from memory. I played my cassette copy from the radio in the months that followed, and my family / friends started to say "Calm down, Casey!" whenever anyone in our group got excited.

On the 2/19/1972 show, Casey had to take a HUGE breath in the middle of listing Dennis Coffey's credits for June 1971. I'm surprised Watermark left that in the show since they usually remove his pauses around this time. Slow down, Casey, slow down.

I'm surprised Watermark left that in the show since they usually remove his pauses around this time. Slow down, Casey, slow down. Maybe that was because they were still recording in "real time" at this point, with the attendant long sessions, and Casey may have been getting tired or they didn't have time to do a re-record. Editing of pauses and such didn't happen as much then in part because they were worried about tape breakage. It was a month later when Dick Clark filled in and complained about how long the sessions took, and reportedly helped introduce them to new ways to make the recording shorter, including tape splicing to remove pauses and mistakes.

I got the impression that was done on purpose to emphasize that long list of credits.

Listening to 2/8/03 today, Casey told a story about Missy Elliott's weight loss, he mentioned the skinny singer had two "phat" hits on AT40 this week. And we wonder why they gave Ryan the CHR show

I think I heard Casey chuckle on 3/24/79 (played by SXM this week), when he said Chic had two hits "chic to chic" in the countdown ("Le Freak" and "I Want Your Love" were at 23 and 22.)

When King Tut was out in the summer of '78 Casey busted out laughing after the song was played. Also in 78 He was telling the story about Rivers of Babylon by Boney M singing How Dry I Am. In the '80's when Killing Time was out he used the voice of Robin about how tall Susan Anton was...but someone pointed out already, the later shows from 2001 to 2009, Casey was laughing on nearly every show from his stories...and one story he did in the late 2000's he couldn't control his laughter, it was great. You can tell he really enjoyed what he was doing HIS top 40. Ryan , on the hand sounds like he wants to do the countdown and get it over with because he has bigger fish, like producing another reality series.

Casey telling ABBA to pack their bags for the USA, because they have a #1 hit with "Dancing Queen" was pretty funny.

The August 7, 1971 show was the only week in the Top 40 for "Resurrection Shuffle" by Ashton, Gardner & Dyke. Casey introduced the song, then made the comment that the band name sounded like a law firm!
