In case you didn't know, there will be no AT40 this saturday on XM7 or next sunday (11/11) on XM8 because they are rebroadcasting IT.

Nor will the 80s on 8 broadcast AT40 on Thursday Nov 8 for the same reason.

It would be cool if they played IT in managable 3 or 4 hour blocks once a week. I'm not getting much out of this marathon.

Well as far as nov 8th is concerned, XM8 just wont be airing a 'replay' of the show from this sunday, so sunday is your only shot to record 11/22/86. However, XM7 IS airing a show on Nov 7th: 11/11/78, and then on saturday the 10th they'll do 11/11/72. WHich would stand to reason that when XM8 comes out of 'it' on Nov 15th, they'll do an at40 show that nite. Which would be a replay of whatever show WOULD have aired on 11/11, had it not been for "IT".

Why not stagger IT through a greater part of the year so that we don't have to stay up 24/7 or record it 24/7 to enjoy. Since they are playing about 275 songs per year, they could easily to that in 3 day stretches during major listening time. That way you could have an entire month of the 70s, instead of a week! Then you could do the 60s a different month, etc. I would think that would be better for all but the hard core fans.

Are they going to air IT again sometime this year? I listened to it last year and in 2006 and I really enjoyed it both times, and I didn't see anything about it on XM yet, and I was wondering if you guys knew anything about it.

Just head over to xmfan.com and then check out the "Decades Discussion". When and if IT happens, that is where you'll find out first.

Nothing about "IT" on XM's site. If interested, I'd email one of the decade channels and ask.

Question what is "IT"? Never heard of it.

"IT" is XM's history of pop music that includes many of the top 40 songs played in chronological order from the beginning of the 1930s to the present day. The show moves from 40s on 4, through the other decade channels and ends on XM Hitlist. The show takes 6 weeks to broadcast.
As a result of the XM-Sirius merger, people wonder if "IT" will be broadcast this year. Even though I recorded most of "IT" last year, I'd like to do so again this year if the show is broadcast.

John, The only section of IT that would hold any appeal to me now would be a revamped 80's version. Like you,I spent alot of time the last two years recording what I could of IT. The run through the 70's on XM radio was extremely detailed, but the 80's was a big disappointment. If I knew they were going to play EVERY top 40 record(John O'Banion anybody?)then I'd be all over that again! Steve

Steve, I'm with you, buddy. While IT 2007 did a good job with the 1960s and not too bad with the 1970s, the 80s was a big disappointment, especially in the early years. The 80s PD has very strong likes and dislikes and he seemed to let that influence what was not played, forgetting that IT was supposed to be all the top 40 songs. Until they expand the playlist, I'm not going to spend much time on it and with the last months of 2008 approaching and no announcement by XM to the contrary, I don't expect an IT 2008.
And yes, John O'Banion's song (which played on XM's AT40 broadcast of May 9, 1981) is one of my favorites and was NOT played on IT. There were many many others that the 80s portion ignored.
