IMHO, it is the biggest single by David Bowie, its intro is the best intro ever and it was until this 3rd single from his album Let´s Dance was released , when I realised how great this work is, much better than Let´s dance and China girl.
Opinions, please.

I like "Modern Love" - it's a pretty upbeat tune, IMO. More upbeat than "Let's Dance", and way better than "China Girl" (and words cannot express how much I hated seeing the nude woman on the beach in the video for "China Girl"). Too bad it didn't enter the top ten on AT40.
Another underrated song I liked by David Bowie from the 1980s - "Day In, Day Out". Didn't care for the video (I'd take it over "China Girl", however), but the song was pretty good.
My most favorite Bowie song, however, is "Cat People". Not sure if it made it to AT40, though.

I like Modern Love musically, but the backup singers are too robotic for me. Its as if they'd repeat anything he sang to them.

I wonder if people suddenly decided they didn't really like it, as it really took off on the charts at first, making a 36-22 move, making it look like a given that it would be his third Top Ten hit from Let's Dance, but, in fact, the song didn't climb any higher than #14.
