I just received an e-mail from Joel Whitburn's Record Research regarding a new book that will be released in August-It's called "Hit Records 1954-1982"-It features the pop charts from a trade publication "Music Monitor" which later became "Record World"-"Record World" ceased publication in 1982-Sounds like a winner to me.

Hopefully there's less mistakes than his most recent Bilboard Pop hits book. I find a mistake about every time I have a look in it.

Bestmusicexpert, Is that the new one that's available for e-download? I have the latest Top 40 Hits book and I noticed the back cover has a very noticeable error. It stages Sexual Healing spent 15 weeks at #3.

If "it features the pop charts", does that mean reproductions of Record World's weekly "100 Top Pops" surveys, or will the book provide chart peaks, total weeks, etc. data?

I own a few original copies of Record World magazine from the late 70's. Always wished there was a book that covered the song peaks by artist. This is exactly what I was looking for so I placed my advanced order this morning. After reading the details about the new book, it looks like it won't have the week by week listing of #1 songs. Too bad. I wonder what song stayed at #1 the longest?

Now I am wondering if it is only a matter of time before Whitburn does books on the Cashbox and R&R charts.

If he does, I hope they release books with the weekly charts like he did for Billboard.

It covers 1955 to 2010.
They make OH so many mistakes, it sickens me. I mean, since the last issue, why not just add in new artists, but they made many mistakes...
Bennie & the Jets, listed as a live song. My Name is by Eminem, a novelty song?! Took Dream A little Dream away from being in TWO listings (Mamas & Papas & Mama Cass entires) and put it strictly in hers. It was on their album and hers too I believe but the single came from their album. It should be in both.
Thats all I could think of off the top of my head...
