I remember Casey voiced a lot of promos for NBC in 1979-1980 for shows like "Different Strokes" & "The Facts Of Life".

It's estimated that Casey recorded over 25,000 promos for NBC in the late 70s and early 80s. Some can be seen on You Tube; he isn't ID'd by name but the voice is unmistakable. Between that and his cartoon voiceover work, I was probably subconsciously quite familiar with his voice long before I ever heard him count down music.

Here is a montage of Saturday morning bumpers from the late 1970s to 1991:
Casey's voiceover work starts at 0:41 in the clip. He apparently started his Saturday morning voiceover work in 1980 and discontinued his duties in 1987. I'm not certain if the original 1986 bumpers (the ones from Foofur, in this case) involved Casey, but I know they were gone by 1987 and replaced by bumpers from sitcom sets (such as ALF, Amen, etc.). The original 1986 bumpers returned for one last time in July 1987, because where only 2 cartoons were airing that week (definitely Kissyfur and most likely Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears) due to Wimbledon coverage, and airing sitcom-style bumpers would be deemed redundant for that week, seeing shows such as The Smurfs were pre-empted that week.
