However, with all due respect, is chart history really all that important any more to today's AT40?

Not really, but the fact that they acknowledge it is a good thing, IMO. I truly feel that Ryan "gets" AT40 and respects the history of the show and the charts, he just must cater to the current audience.

Something like that was commented by Ryan in the hot ac version of AT40 last year when Pink had 2 songs in the Top 3, then Ryan mentioned The Bee Gees did the same thing in the 70´s, curiously AT40 The 70´s aired that show with The Bee Gees those days, last year, so IMHO, Ryan tries to do connections and gives those chart facts, which are welcome even in the current show.

This weekend AT40 the 70´s is one of the episodes back in 1978 Ryan reffered when mentioning the record tied by Pink. In fact that episode has 5 songs sung, produced or written by the brothers (Bee Gees) in the top 10.
